Probably my most consistent and strongest effect would be my OotW (Out of this World). They only yell sometimes. But they go away thinking about life every time. I know one person has done something to change their life because of it. Magic.

Here's my problem. Shutting someone down. Nice manner. Nope, doesn't correlate. Hate to break it to you, but there's nothing nice about shutting someone down - whether you say thank you or not - it's still shutting someone down.

I'd have to say that's a terrible response in my opinion. Sorry, but confronting someone who catches you because of a mistake you did, making him look stupid, incapable, and then confronting him after the show? That's the exact opposite of what magic should be. If you made a mistake, cough up...

Half Pass would work perfectly in conjunction with any control. Alternatively, you could "accidentally" have a face up card already - and perform the Larreverse. (not sure how that would play, never done that, have done the former though) Arthur Buckley has a reverse move also that would work.

Again, I have a book in which I list every effect I've found of interest to me. At any one time I'll be able to perform about half a dozen effects perfectly. Then there are many many others which are "on call" - they're good enough to perform, but perhaps I haven't got everything as polished as...

There's really no particular way to answer this. As Tom alluded to, there are many different ways of dealing with it. One very commonly neglected one is simply to admit it. If you can't instantly think of a way to get out of it, just admit it - fumbling around trying to think about an out will...

It really depends what you're looking for, though. Three of his Trilogy is much more advanced stuff to say, One. Burn is a series of effects with the same concept. Mystique is great for developing audience management. Identity is a collection of great gaffs and gimmicks. etc etc...
