    Topits

Ammar and JSB are pretty much the two best out there, so you don't need to look any further. As far as I know, both of them will do you just great, so I don't think it's a big deal. Ammar I believe has a DVD on using the Topit as well.

    Is Magic Sexist?

I wouldn't go so far as to say magic is sexist per se. But to be sure, it's a very fraternally-based art. Honestly I'm too tired to type more at the moment but do a search, there've been a few of these topics before.

    Performers Should Be Less Boring

True - though I meant it as in, don't worry about what other magicians are saying or doing. If you want to improve, do it yourself - in the context of Toby's post. Sorry if it was unclear.

I need help with this effect

You might want to look into an e-book written by a wonderful man by the name of Thomas Baxter, called "NOT a Dianoetic Rage". Amongst many delightful things, he goes over a Spread Force - spreading the cards for the spectator to merely look at one and remember it - but it's a force. This type...

    Performers Should Be Less Boring

Wow, I totally missed this post first time around, so sorry I haven't replied to this. Well, for me personally, it's difficult to shoot a live performance, simply because I don't actually own a camera. You're absolutely right though, more people should be leading by example. I guess to an...

I saw this thread, and thought of this recent post, one of the best I've seen for a while.

How are is it a trick deck?

I don't see the point of explaining that it is not a trick deck, if I never get accused of it. Those that do, in my opinion are doing something wrong.

As an actor, I can vouch for the aforementioned advice.

Brad, I envy you. But I'd be proud of such a collection as well. Really can't be bothered to list them all... I guess I'll like the first dozen or so that come to mind. I wish Walmart came to the UK!

This is true, but you never know - though it will never be 13 a brick, of that much I'm fairly certain. I mean, I'm having great success at finding incredible magic books at places like Borders and Dymocks. Bobo, Card Control, Expert Card Technique, Card Manipulations, The Art of Magic, etc...

    Coin (Not Money) Magic

lol. Have you actually mastered everything in Bobo? If you have, you shouldn't need to ask for material, you've got everything you need for a "hard-hitting" performance right there. Everything needed for Silver Dream is pretty much taught in Bobo, for example.

    Smoke & Mirrors

I wish they didn't change the design on the 2nd Eds, it really rather ruins the point of S&M and they look a lot worse, crowded, and much less elegant. The 1st Editions are my favourite decks and the ones I perform with, though.

Which will I get more out of?

Wow. You should post that in the reviews section. I don't have New Magic but 5X5 is very heavily gimmicked. If you're new to magic I wouldn't recommend it considering there's only so much card/coin work in there, but...

I wish Walmart came to the UK!

Australia's wonderful success at keeping Walmart out is at an end, I believe. An impressive run, but if memory serves they will invade our shores sometime this year.

    Making Magic Believable

Well I suppose the first thing is obviously to believe in what you are doing yourself. Hmm. I don't think the audience need to believe everything you say literally and unquestioningly though - there's the whole matter of suspending disbelief. If you establish your performance before you go into...
