How many decks do you have?

As said by someone who really doesn't know what he is talking about. It isn't about a question of money, it is a question of quality. You can argue all you want, but the truth is, Tally Ho's are better than Aviators. There are higher quality cards, it isn't just a name brand. But of course...

Ignore Everybody and 39 other Keys to Creativity

I almost missed it too, there was too much talk about the book and not enough mentioning of the book =P

    Starting. Again.

Agreed, if you do get through all of the material you will have more than a great handling of Coin and Card Magic, with a solid foundation for Mentalism.

How many decks do you have?

I am reading through this thread, and I think I laughed for a good ten minutes. I have well over 100 and I tend to burn through a new deck every week, mainly because I am pretty rough on my cards and take them through environments that they don't belong. Though those are always bikes, I...

    Starting. Again.

The Tarbell Course in Magic is a great series for people just coming in, and for those with experience. It covers everything, but it a bit price running about 200 bones if you want to go through the complete course (which you should)

    Bad habits when you perform...?

I think I talk to much, and lose the effect that silence has on magic. I have noticed that a lot of professionals do this, and it is hard to find that balance between good patter and just too much patter.

    Book Test

I have the three digit to 1089 one, then I have one where you use a quarter or coin of some kind to force a page. Then you just force the first word that they see. As far as what am I looking for, honestly, I don't know. I just want to roam some other ones, and see what I like. I don't...

    Book Test

Hey all, I am setting up doing a simple parlor act and I want to do a book test. I have been flipping through a handful, but I don't like the ones I have found so far. Any advice on what I should look for??? Thanks =)

    Real Magic For Them

The invisible palm has been doing really well with me right now. Also (I can't remember the name of this for the life of me but it is on True Astonishment too) the one where you get the time to appear in the match book. Gold =)

Ideas on Taking Care of Your Cards

I always try to eat a greasy burger before practicing... I have found this to be both costly and counter productive =P But seriously, practicing over the carpet instead of tiles. I notice that I drop my cards way too much... Though, it is the only way to master those ariels =D

    Attention Grabbers

So I have been trying to think of new methods to grab someones attention so that they know you are a magician without walking up and saying: "Hi! I'm a magician, want to see some magic?" (Followed by a wave with your fingers...) David Stone suggests a good one with his fire wallet, and I was...

    Advanced Sleight learning plan

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with this one. Because sometimes you will have to use an assortment of things to get that 1/8 inch hole, which comes from having a variety. After working on houses as much as I have, you would be amazed at what crazy things I have done to get the job...

    Advanced Sleight learning plan

More tools is always a better thing, it makes you more versatile. That is an age old principle not only with cards, but more or less everything in life. Granted, some tools you want to have better control over than others. But end the end, trust me, you want as many tools in your tool box as...

    Advanced Sleight learning plan

Wow... Just stepping into this I get the feeling that somethings have been left out or misrepresented. While I respect most of the things that have been said, I want to make sure some things are real clear. While it is good to spend more time on the moves that best fit you, you should still...

    The Psychology Of Magic

So true, I have a handful of people that I show opening effects to before I go public with it and they know that they are the test audience. I can't tell you how invaluable they have been. And don't worry about messing up everyone once in a while, just brush it off and move to the next effect...
