    Sweaty Hands when practicing

I have said this in may posts before but I guess I will repost it again for the 10th time....ha ha. Hand Sanitizer will work wonders. It has a little bit of alcohol in it which dries the hands. Purel and many other brands will work perfectly. Just apply some to your hands....rub them...

    Jonathan Pendragon Arrested....

Holy crap....I just saw the two of them last week at the magic castle. That picture makes him look scary. Wow. Thanks for the post.

    Rope Fraying

Chris, I have had this problem as well with my cotton rope so for practicing I just keep trimming the ends when they get bad. Then I have my performance pieces set aside just for performing and not practicing. Same rope...I just don't touch the performance pieces until its time. I would...

Best way to strip invisible thread?

I cut the size I need first from the spool and then use the tape it to the wall method and very slightly fray the end until I get one strand. Then I work the rest of the material back upward and then pull the strand back downward. Do this a few times and be patient. You'll get it.

IBM Annual Convention :: On the News

He is a great guy. That was nice of him to give you 7 of his DVD's. Unbelievable...

Just an idea I had the other day...

I agree with Steerpike on this one. Whatever floats your boat man, but I don't think it is that exciting. Yeah flourishing is cool and seems to be the thing for the young and up and coming guys, but to me it is just o.k. and a small part of magic.

IBM Annual Convention :: On the News

It sounded like a blast man. What did you think of Ed Ellis and his card work? Phenomenal! He is one of my good friends and mentor who I take lessons from. Sometimes he is very scattered brained but I think that is because he is pretty creative. He said that he had the late lecture at 11:00...

A New Handling for David Blaine's iPhone App

Shane..I think it is very creative but maybe a lot of people on here don't have an iPhone. I'm just guessing because even in my IBM ring of 30 magicians there is only one guy who just got it and has started to play with it. I think some people read the title and if they don't have an iphone...

    Something cool..

Ok thanks. I could see how with patter and the right presentation it could and does go over some people's heads but I was just worried because I caught it right away without rewinding the video or anything on the first time viewing the video. Then again it is probably just the fact that everyone...

    Practice on Family?

As everyone else has mentioned. Use your family as much as possible to get feedback. My wife, kids, and even my parents know how a lot of things work and they know how to "view" things as a magician as well. They let me know when I flash or how something may look better by changing "this or...

    Something cool..

Do you use that top card force a lot without being caught? Just wondering. I know we are magicians here and the force looked kind of cool but it was easy to see you just pull the top card off. Not bashing...just inquiring. Spello Change is a cool trick.

Way for a new Magician to Make Money?

Best thing for you to do would be to join your local IBM ring / club. That was the best move in magic I ever made. I've learned more in one year of being a club member than I did in 8 years trying to do things on my own. If your parents are against that, I would start buying books. More bang...

    Floating Rose Clothing Question

Be very careful about your lighting above and behind you....I spoke to Kevin James about this at one of his lectures and I'd test out the lighting ahead of time or your busted.

    Pixel by David Jade

This is about the same trick that Ed Ellis put out called Ringature which involves a rubber banded ring being placed around the deck and then they (the rubber band and ring) vanish only to appear later wrapped soley around the spectators selection. Killer effect.

    Show this Saturday!

I will second that...leave the finger chopper at home. That doesn't fit a walk around gig very well. I know it is a cool gimmick and people do like them but I'd save it for more of a formal show. Everything else on your list looks great. You definitely need to learn some rubber band magic for...

    MAGIC or Genii?

The magic shop I buy mine at says he has cancelled all of his subscriptions for Genii because everyone comes in and buys MAGIC magazine instead. I think they are both great but I think more people lean towards MAGIC, especially with the Josh Jay column. I would ask Brad Henderson though...

    Magic in close quaters...

Again as mentioned...you will not have the same class schedule as your roommate. There would be times that I didn't see my roomie for the entire day. Or...he would go visit a girlfriend at another college for a weekend. You can walk anywhere on campus you want with your magic in a backpack...
