Cringe....I agree with Blackline's choice. I love that one. It stands out from the rest. Would you be willing to send me that one via email as an attachment to use as my desktop on my macbook at school? Let me know. Thanks man. everhart@louisville.sparcc.org

    Balloon Swallowing... Best Balloons?

I am experiencing the same problem even with Qualatex balloons. After I set the balloon up and go to pump it....it pops every time. Someone PM me as well if you have pointers. Perhaps I need to adjust the set up. Thanks.

Books for Magicians - No Tricks

I am halfway through Strong Magic by Ortiz and it is incredible. Totally makes you rethink your magic and take it to the next level. I will soon be ordering Maximum Entertainment and then Beyond Deception.

    Video Editing Program

On a Mac I would have to say iMovie with iDVD to finalize it. On a PC I would have to agree that you get what you pay for. I like to use Pinnacle Version 9 and that provides me with more than enough transitions, effects, etc. Pinnacle is now up to version 12 I believe but it is definitely...

    Ending a sponge ball routine?

I can hear the jokes already. "Here...hold these balls..." "You have to really squeeze it." "Just give it a blow and watch it grow." I couldn't resist..these were the first few that came to mind. Ha Ha.

Daytona Magic sells a book called Sleight of Mouth that has some great material in it. You may want to check it out.

    First Paid Performance

You could do Harry Anderson's gang of 4 to really get a lot of people at each table involved. It is very easy (force 4 cards) and use one gimmicked card as a sweet reveal.

    First Paid Performance

I just recently purchased the Corporate Close Up 2 Disc 1 and Disc 2 Set. They are fabulous in regards to teaching the ins and outs of paid gigs such as what you will be doing. You may want to look into those as well. They teach you about when to arrive, the do's and don'ts of paid gigs...

    First Paid Performance

You probably already know this but I would do about 3-5 tricks and if they are all card effects...please do not make all of them "pick a card" type effects. Make one of them a pick a card with a sweet reveal. Then maybe a 4 ace production. Maybe invisible deck. and Finish them with an ACR...

    Just Cards?

You are right...I did have to suck it up and buy a few kids props but after two or three shows everything was paid for. Good luck on making your decision.

    Magic is annoying me...

Here is a thought. Take it for what its worth. Pick one of your effects that people are "calling you out on" or an effect that you think is strong but you aren't getting the reactions. Only perform that trick for an entire week to MANY different audiences. Old people, young people, kids...

    Just Cards?

I have done many kids parties and sciffydof is exactly dead on. Read all of his points carefully. I agree. I will also add that kids like things to change color, appear, vanish, etc. I only use one card trick in my entire 30 min. kids show. Everything else is sponge balls, ropes, silks...

    Wireless Mic Systems? Speakers?

Thanks Dee. We have an IBM meeting tomorrow night as well so I am going to ask around those guys as well. I'll see what pops up on ebay and then check some pawn shops. I am weird though...I hate buying used items. I am pretty set on "new" items. I guess I am just anal about it.

    Private Gigs - How Much?

For me if it is a private party at a house for 15-20 people (adults) I charge $100 for an hour. If it is a private party at a bigger location for 50-100 I charge $200 for an hour. Small birthday party for 10-15 kids for a half hour of balloons animals and half hour of magic is $100...

    Wireless Mic Systems? Speakers?

Thanks for the help guys. I have seen some guys that have these all in one unit type deals where they have a little speaker with a wireless channel thing on top of it and then that runs to their little mic on their sports coat. Does anyone know brands or what these would be called?

    Private Gigs - How Much?

I normally charge $100 for a 40 minute show if it is a private party. I have about 8 years of magic experience but only 1 year actually doing paid gigs. I have never been turned down for asking 100 bucks so I may increase that to $150-$200 in the next few months. If you are going to charge...
