    Favorite Vanish

The one i use most often? That would be David Roth's retention vanish. My favorite? My own vanish where the coin is already in the hand, the hand is closed, and the coin is gone. this is a particularly obvious vanish but i use it to practice strong misdirection.

    Does Coin Magic...

Morgician- you're right, but with proper misdirection, and the ability to shift the spectators attention and perspective, one can make any spectator into a "i enjoy magic" spectator instead of a "how did he do it" spectator. then, the problem no longer arises.

    Which Coins Do You Use?

why not borrow? Well, for one, it's easier to palm/manipulate larger coins. there is a larger impact when a large coin is vanished, versus a penny, and lastly, if you vanished someone elses coin, they would be mad at you!

    Does Coin Magic...

Wait- you knew Chappy Brazil, master of the watch steal? David Stone gives the advice to USE bill switches to allude to money in a more subtle way. Telling a story is NOT a logical reason to do something, unless you are a storyteller! (which i am.)

... but if nobody in the room knows that you are a magician, they aren't even going to be looking at you when you BAM ham sandwich! So your first thing should be to attract attention to yourself by escaping from several pairs of shackles, handcuffs, and ropes, while being slowly lowered...

    Does Coin Magic...

Presentational Angles and Logical Performances are both "enhancers" on your everyday routine. ANY routine can be given a presentation angle. Not all routines can be given a logical explanation that does not sound overly convoluted. Therin lies the challenge. Back to the ham-sandwich theory...

Why are you using half dollars and silver dollars?

Whoah! That John Ramsay cups-and-balls idea with the silver streamer applied to a coin routine was really clever!

I'm sure that those changes CAN be used as switches, but they would be less effective than a simple shuttle pass. Take Roth's flash change for example- it is an obviously "magical" movement- flipping a coin over onto a hand while waving the hand over it? Who is going to do that to toss a coin...

The majority of the changes mentioned above would be visual "spellbound" changes. For invisible switches, Roth's shuttle pass and Bobo's switch would work. Both have already been mentioned, but i throw my regards out for them too. Also, have you considered having the "gimmicked" coin in your...
