    Advancing. Experience.

If you want to stick with cards, try and find some card-related mentalism, which is what I do. But yes, you should have some non-card stuff in there, if only just a little, and, obviously, your card stuff should be varied and not just pick a card stuff. 3. Depends on the place. If you're...

Hey mate - here's the deal with the move. It's more or less a small variation of Chris Kenner's Shifty, apparently created independently by Shigeo Futagawa as an alternative to Kenner's SWE Shifts in SW Elevator. The lecture notes are called, surprisingly enough, "Shigeo Futagawa's Lecture...

Starting a magician community at college.

As much as I appreciate that, his issue is that he wants to share stuff with other magicians ^^

Books or DVDs - Card Magic and Flourishing

There's a book called Brass Knuckles which has some very cool stuff in it. If you like the D&D stuff, get their lecture notes and stuff like that on their website, fair bet you'll like those also.

    The Paper Engine?

Sean's right - the most obvious applications are inversion and sandwich effects - but I have no idea how he came up with some of the other uses.

    Miller Cascade Control?

Yeah... IMO Basically, it's not the hardest thing in the world to get the motions down for, but it will take a fair bit longer to get the move looking smooth (no pausing, hesitating, looking completely natural, etc)

Am I on the right road?

I'm not saying at all that it's not worth the money. I'm saying, look at the effects, and see if you would perform them. I would never perform any of the Trilogy effects, so for me, it is definitively not worth the money. Furthermore, for a beginner, what does he need to learn, the One Handed...

    Geek Magic

Pft. All that's been listed here is "popular" geek magic. Here's a Brad Henderson post on this a while back: If you want more information, he's the guy to send a message to.

Hey man - that really sounds great! By the way guys - I emailed Tom myself about it, will let you know when he replies.

Am I on the right road?

Mah bad, yes it does. When you do get The Trilogy, as I assume eventually you will - take a look at some of D&D's effects, and work out if it's your style or not. I'd never use any of D&D's magic material personally, it's just not me, but many people find much use out of it.

Am I on the right road?

Hmm. The flourishing in the Trilogy is not recommended for a beginner - I wouldn't say it's impossible, but you will find it much harder (i.e. a month's extra practice for one flourish type harder) than if you got it after 6 months or a year of flourishing. Since you're just starting, the...

    Created Effects

Some not very good ones I made up.. Pusillanimus Simple inversion effect... Not much original stuff but w/e. A name I can't say here (that's not the name, the actual name is a VERY subtle but vulgar pun of sorts) A spell to your card trick... Not very original, I know...

    Advancing. Experience.

    1. When you perform at such places, people are firstly usually more accepting and appreciative than just randomly performing on the street because you're giving up your time for them and they understand that - as opposed to street, here, you're not intruding as much (of course this still varies...

    Election in America

Thanks JB. Inevitably, from experience, debates regarding politics deteriorate very quickly into mudslinging matches where two sides with lots of mud but very little knowledge just gun away at each other with insults. It's not a magician thing, but rather, a forum thing. That said...

    Color Changes

Hey mate. Jay Nobledaza's DVD Color Changes may be exactly what you're looking for. There are a ridiculous amount of changes there. There are a few in some of d+M's other works also. Personally, Erdnase and Winter change are still my favourites.
