    Static - Joel Paschall

You press the quote button. Yeah, it's that hard... That doesn't mean I'm a beginner. If I want to learn a flourish they're selling, even if it is simple, I'm going to buy it. It's called respect, something you can't buy... and even if you could, we all know you wouldn't. So just don't...

theory11 SNC - roundtable discussion - Tom Isaacson

I think it's highly rude, disrespectful, immature, and overall distasteful to ridicule for someone for being generous like Phil is. If anything, he deserves a pat on the back for what he's doing. Why would it be a joke? Your posts are a joke, though, that's for sure.

How to flourish with flowing movement

I'm glad someone thought it was useful. Like I said, I'm not even close to being even considered an intermediate flourisher- but someday I might be there. Just to give you an idea of my skill level- I had trouble with Static at first!

How to flourish with flowing movement

Besides just the obvious practice, I'll try to help you a little more. Keep in mind that I am a bit of a noob to flourishing, so I don't know a whole lot on the subject. But while I'm practicing, I start slow... reeaaal slow. And then eventually, muscle memory will begin to build. However...

    Routining

Your routine should flow. The opener should be visual, fun... something to get them "hooked". The first middle effect should be less strong than your opener, but everything after that should build to your closer, which will blow them away and leave them wanting more. You're right, you have...

Does d+M use Snap.d to shoot a card over his shoulder?

    You are most welcome. :D

    Rene Lavands "one handed o&w"

Rene Levand is truly awesome. One of my heroes in magic. He's one of the few magicians I can still watch perform and go "what?" at the end.

    Unfair Advantage?

Don't whine because you forgot to check the Artist profile- that's your fault. Reeaaal mature of you to complain about a contest in which theory11 is giving away free things, every week. Good job, you should be proud of yourself.

    Witness and Coin Bite

Oh, you mean the set-up that takes 20 seconds AT MOST? It folds up to about the size of a packet of 10-15 cards. How is that a pain to carry around?

Does d+M use Snap.d to shoot a card over his shoulder?

Katie said that the only time Chris has ever performed magic for her specifically was when they were cleaning out the "magic closet" and he as demoing tricks. So no, I think the magic was only a bonus.

    Witness and Coin Bite

Definitely. I was just informing him that it is one of the most over-exposed gimmicked effects of all time.

    Some tricks

Magic is not about fooling your spectators; it's about entertaining them. So yes, it is all on you and your presentation. If he's not happy just enjoying it for what it is, and you don't think a better performance can fix that, you need to just stop performing for him, and re-think what magic...

    [Tutorial] Theory11 Easter Eggs

I fixed it for you. :D You're welcome. Sorry, had to do it. I'm a bit of a grammar/spelling freak.

    Card Selections: 1 or 3

If you're performing for 1-2 spectators, definitely use the same card, but make sure it's signed. However, if there are more than two spectators, have a new card selected each time, but by a new spectator, so that you can get the majority of the audience involved in the magic.

    Witness and Coin Bite

Witness is definitely a closer, IMHO. It's a very powerful effect, and it's perfect, because at the end, after they're done examining the card and the back, you can pop your business card in the bag, seal it up, and give it to them as a souvenir for them to keep. Pretty awesome if you ask me...

Working at theory11... best job ever?

Joel works at California Magic (www.calmagic.com), so I know creating stuff for theory11 isn't his only "source of income". I also know that at least Lee and Aaron do lectures all over the world, so they make money that way. I can't tell you about the others. Personally, I wouldn't want to...

    Patter for Believe

Don't copy Joel. I've met Joel, seen him perform in person, and he has a very unique performing style. It's laid back, and very personal... I like it. But to be successful as a magician, you've got to come up with your own stuff. If not material-wise, then you at least have to come up with...

Oh, no you didn't! Nah, I don't mind... it seems a lot of people are doing that these days. As long as I get credit, I don't care. Oh, and call me Drew.
