    Ellusionist - Losing Touch?

How is it my fault that you were didn't Google Harry Kellar's name? Since when have I been one to go with an opinion just because it's the majority? You immediately assume the worst of the people watching Celebracadabra. You assume the worst of those who click on the link. You're either...

    An Alternative Approach to Hecklers

I never said this would be easy. It depends on what you truly think is better for you in the long run. If it's a drunk who you more than likely will never see again in your life, bail. Don't waste your time. If it's someone you'll more than likely be seeing later, you have to take a more...

    An Alternative Approach to Hecklers

You'd be surprised how many parallels there are between war strategy and performance theory. If you haven't yet read The Secret Art of Magic, I suggest you do so. If you can convert the hard case, the rest of the group is easy. Especially if you're in a venue such as a restaurant and...

    An Alternative Approach to Hecklers

Sometimes retreat is the better strategy. But in my experience, the people who cannot be turned are few a far between.

    Ellusionist - Losing Touch?

Z, the problem here can be summed up in your last sentence. You don't think. You're not willing to do any amount of work for your own sake, you expect us to change to accomodate you. Some of your message was cut off because as of my typing this, your giant hyphenated rant broke the tables...

I didn't mean for you to practice your sleights.

Will Ellusionist make a 100 grand?

Well, it'll kill you anyway. Still, this topic baffles me. Why are we discussing the profit margins of a dealership that we don't own or personally compete with?

    Ellusionist - Losing Touch?

Oh, so now teaching magic is exposure? What in the name of Roger Corman do we have to do to learn magic in a safe manner that you lot would approve of? Steal each other's secrets? I'm sure Harry Kellar would be proud. I think people take that way too literally. Shall I pass that along to...

    Ellusionist - Losing Touch?

I find this rather telling. Amazing how many magicians would see the art stagnate and die a slow, suffocating death than rotate any new blood into the scene for fear of the empty safe they guard that is their methods.

    An Alternative Approach to Hecklers

It's probably an anglicized spelling of the name.

I actually I first learned of Chuko Liang from The Secret Art of Magic and then that particular story from The 48 Laws of Power.

    An Alternative Approach to Hecklers

That is pretty spooky. I just wish more people would show the impetus to take 5 minutes and read some good advice. I refuse to cut out all the important details just to give a bunch of loafers a few soundbites. Then again, if they're too lazy to read the article, I'm starting to think...

I can't see how I could have made the point of that article any clearer. If you still don't get it after reading it twice, I have no idea what to tell you.

You read all of that and all you got out of it was the one out I described?

    An Alternative Approach to Hecklers

Been a while since I sat down to write one of these. In this case, I want to address an issue that’s come up for a lot of magicians recently. With the advent of Celebracadabra, the panic attacks are coming in regularly and scaring the bejeezus out of everyone. Among the panic attacks are a...

    Make Magazine #13

I'll be back in a few minutes, I just need to make I have my flame-retardant suit on. I see nothing good coming of this. Personally, I don't care that Make Magazine published this. But on sheer principle, people on this forum are going to go Varg Vikernes on the publisher for this.

    Celebracadabra

I agree completely. I really do believe that magicians create a lot of their own problems, though the same could be said of people in general. I probably stand alone on this, but to an extent, I enjoy the challenge. Not only is it a challenge to me as a performer, but as a person. There...

    Celebracadabra

I think the "no respect" thing is the real factor here. My typical response to a spectator thinking they figured out the method is to say, "No, but that's very creative." Sometimes I actually pull out a notepad and write it down. I've gotten pretty consistent success with that so far. But...

    Celebracadabra

Most people are aware of the concept of a finger palm but I still do it all the time.
