RIOT by Dan Hauss - Details & The Dizzle - Friday, October 31st

"This coming Friday, theory11 will release a feature length 1-on-1 instant download from the mind of Dan Hauss. Entitled RIOT - the effect is a visual, methodical rising card done with a signed selection. The card visually rises from the center of the deck to the top in a manner that is simple...

    Kostya Kimlat Lecture Sun 26th

He came and lectured for our club a few months back and he was really good. He's very personable and he an excellent magician. I loved his M&M's trick. Awesome stuff.

    eXile by Mathieu Bich

Thanks for the feedback, JB. Like I said, I'm going to play with this for a while before I make any final decisions myself. What I wrote are just my initial feelings. The thinking behind Exile is brilliant, without a doubt, and I can see this working great for certain people. I'm just not sure...

    Quick eXile Question

Yep. I'm experiencing the exact same thing. Definitely not the same ink/pen used in the Blaine special or the T11 trailer.

    eXile by Mathieu Bich

I see what you mean now. I just got home and my package arrived. Watched the DVD a little bit ago and played with the gimmicks and I have to say, I'm not too sure about this one. Three different props to juggle in the pockets/performance. It's a cool effect, just not sure how practical it is...

Can those who have received theirs comment on the pocket management of the effect?

...but nobody had named the creator and orginal name of the effect.

    "True Astonishment"

According to Jason Messina over at the Cafe, filming is wrapping up and TA is slated for an early 2009 release. The DVDs will be sold individually, or as a boxset in a collector's box with additional props for the effects on the DVDs. Can't wait for this set either. Happy Magic.

    Name this trick!

Haunted Pack by Al Baker Lots of different handlings have come out since. Nathan Kranzo's (using loops) is my personal favorite.

    Departure Ring Flight

Nice review. I'm not too crazy about the "shirt vanish" he's using though. In your opinion, how do you think the effect would look if you were to substitute another vanish? Would it look good and work well with the gimmick if you were to just use a simple vanish like a false transfer?

Bicycle Karnival Deck... VERY Short Review

They look cool, but honestly, so many people are making cards now they're all just starting to look the same. I have a few different decks (Guardians are my favorite of all the custom cards) but I find red back bikes are still the way to go for me.

    Favorite gaff deck?

Invisible Deck is a must-have. The other gimmicked deck I sometimes carry is Strange Travelers (David Blaine). Phenomenal effect. Real astonishment. Happy Magic

    Arturo Ascanio: Intransent Action

I have Ascanio's first book, "The Magic of Ascanio Volume 1 - The Structural Conception of Magic" and I love it. Haven't read it in a couple years, but that's where he discusses his ideas on intransit actions. There's also some good info on the subject of "How to study magic." Talking about it...

    BentTouchSlink :: Review

Been playing with these for a few days now. I didn't really like Touch at all. Bent is very clever and clean looking, but the angles don't work for me. Great method though. Slink is just awesome. To me it was worth the price of the entire DVD. It's impromptu and something I'll use for the...

    Book Test

I was looking at some book test performances online (Richard Osterlind's handling of the classic Hoy Book Test is just killer) and I came across this book test performed by Criss Angel. Aside from his goofy performance ("Do you have one locked in your head?") the effect itself is something I...
