I've held both, although I'm remarkably biased. The key distinction between the two is that they were printed on two different presses at USPC. While DeckONE v2 was printed on the casino web press, the 1902 Smith's were printed using a new finish on a separate press.

I've felt the 1902's, particularly the ones with the linen finish, and they felt great in my hands. I can attest to the quality of both decks. Bill Kalush is a good friend, and he knows more about playing cards than almost anyone on earth.

The largest distinction between the decks is the look. One looks like it's made of metal, and the other is more of an elegant, simple aesthetic. In conclusion - it depends on your style. Go for whatever you identify with the most.

I just got my DeckONE v2 today. They are amazing. I love them. Seriously, they're great. If you can, buy both.
But I'd go with D1, personally.

Hello ch17772,

Jonathan Bayme (j.bayme) is right! I think that the main difference between the two decks that you are comparing is the look you are going for. DeckONE is definitely of a much different aesthetic than the Erdnase 1902s. Recently the Twins made some better photos of our cards (I am a horrible photographer), which I will be posting on our website soon, I hope, which might be more helpful in your decision.

Other than the look, I think they are pretty similar in quality. Our Ivory finish decks were printed in a smaller number than the Cambric finish and are not on the web press, as Jonathan mentioned. However, I would like to point out that the Cambric version was printed on the web press! Yay!

Regardless, both versions of our cards and Homer Liwag's DeckONEs are sure to be of the best quality that the USPCC can create!

Thanks for your interest in our cards!

Best,

Ricky
