The Weekly Poll - 5/17/09 - A Good Idea?

I've noticed a lack in good discussions lately, so I'm going to make some. Every Saturday after the SNC (when the most members are online) I will post a poll about something in the magic business/community. I want opinions, not facts. (EX.: What's better DVDs or Books, Custom Cards are good/bad ect.)

For the first poll the question is this:

Is the weekly poll a good idea?

Post your opinions without referring to any other posts
Post your opinion only once

I personally think this is a bad idea, not that the idea itself is bad, but posting it here is bad. If someone posts their opinion on this forum, a argument usually starts and so on.

I really like the idea but I would post along with it to ask people not to post their opinions and only to vote.

Or, tell them to post their opinions without referring to any other post (to prevent arguments)

Sounds good. That's what I'll do.

I don't see why we shouldn't at least try this. It could turn out great or turn into a big argument but I think you should post at least one and see how it turns out.

Just to be clear, this is a poll about a poll, discussing the possibility of the purpose of a poll? An interesting, intellectual debate via poll would be good from time to time. It'd be... appolling... get it... like "appealing" but with the word poll in it. I'm going to stop typing now.

This is it for now. I'll post them on Saturdays around 7-7:30. That's when the most people are online because of the SNC.

I already have a few things planned for polls.
