use your two middle fingers not your pinky. it keeps the card going in the same direction.
then experiment with the distance, with newer cards, cause older ones start to stick like hell.
other than that it's a knacky move so it could take a little while.
Learn the pinky count first. I found after learning the pinky count that the Top Shot is pretty automatic, but catching the card will take practise.
Index finger should be as close to the corner as possible and thumb directly opposite. Can't say much more as maybe classed as exposure?

A pinky count is just a get-ready; like the thumb count, riffle get-ready, et cetera.

I learned the top shot just by watching Lonnie Dilan do it in ghost deck demo. I dont know if this the way your supposed to do it but I push the top card down like 1 or 2 centimeters so it gives me a bit of a lip to get my pinky around.Hope this is not exposing the effect.
