    Jobs at Theory11/Ellusionist?

JB doesn't just have a technical job, he runs the whole website. He's the CEO. If you want a job like Jonathan Bayme, then create a hugely successful website, start a business and be a prolific entrepreneur ;)

    Magic materials for young children

I had a cool magic want as a kid that I carried around a bunch. My favorite magic book that I got as a 7 year old was My First Magic Book by Lawrence Leyton. There were large pictures and a bunch of craft projects, but lots of good solid classic magic as well.

    Magic materials for young children

I find a lot of simple magic at Go Games at the mall. This is a small toy store. There are small kits produced by Fantasma with lots of fun stuff. The selection is usually large enough that you can decide what fits best.

    Jobs at Theory11/Ellusionist?

If you want to make magic your vocation you treat it how you would any other job. Study hard, work hard, be ambitious. Set goals, get an idea of what you want to do. Organize the pathway and do it. Jonathan Bayme has been described as a prodigy, he was able to prove that he was worthy of...

    Should I get Angle Z?

Yeah, Jay first published it in his Underground Jam, Jeff Stone had a guest role on it. It's not surprise that he has a variation, he's a creative guy and he's my neighbor ;) (NAME DROP!) Jay Sankey has the best work on it in my opinion. I don't think he's currently selling it. There are a few...

    Should I get Angle Z?

If you are going to purchase Angle Z and you like Daniel Madison check out his Book Anthology. In this book you get the majority of Madison's major releases in written form, including Angle Z. Alternatively, regarding Angle Z, there is some controversy as to who actually created it. Jay Sankey...

    Should I get Angle Z?

This is a good thought process, I'm going to include mine here. 1. Do I have a way I can start doing this; in my show, in my walk around sets or casually a. Do I know enough about what the trick requires that I can reasonably do what I intend to do with it? b. If I already know the...

    I hate asking this but...

I agree with this 100%. I don't think we have the right to know anything in magic. I also think it's a beautiful thing to have someones secrets go with them to the grave. I kind of love that aspect of magic, that it's not all known. Being a part of the magic fraternity doesn't mean you must...

How did you get into magic?

I attend one of the SAM's youngest clubs. Our average age is 35. There's not a lot of young people who stick with it :/ I attend 4 different clubs and we see young guys but they don't stay. Lots of members were fans as kids and return to the craft.

How did you get into magic?

My first exposure to magic was at the age of 4 or 5 at a fourth of July fair. The guy was great to my memory. I think he did Alan Wakeling's Aces Front(in a walk around set), he made a goose apear then shoved it down a toilet, he did a trick based on a murder mystery, and a variation on the...

    Originality in Magic

I'd say that Wayne's changes might be a "Version" but as you said these are very loose definitions and it doesn't say when is a good time to release the trick. I've thought more about the Wayne Houchin effect and I might change my mind about this later. In my view Scarne's Switchcraft was in...

    I should focus on???

Get a deck of cardistry trainers for school. A plex deck, or leather trainers would be cool. You wouldn't be able to do card tricks per-se with these but you could practice and show your friends some flourishes when asked.

    Originality in Magic

So this comes up a lot. How do you decide when a trick is ready to share with others? How do you determine originality? This has been posted before but it's worth a re-watch. Garrett Thomas and Mathieu Bich share their thoughts.

    Self working tricks

One of the more popular tricks out there is the piano trick. The spectator can shuffle, there's no sleight of hand, the cards are shown very fairly, and you have the added bonus of tying your spectator to the table with your cards. The only trouble is that there are some tough psychological...

This sounds like "The 21 Card Trick". I can't reveal it here but a quick Google search will bring up this public domain classic.

What does magic mean to you?

Magic is a deep psychological study of how we see the world and how we can manipulate our perceptions. It is a study on dishonesty and morality. It is a piece of theater that allows the audience to experience an impossibility in a completely convincing way. Magic is the forced suspension of...
