Thanks for the review! I was curious about this...

What are your top 3 effects to perform?

Great question. Paid gig: Fresh Mint (my signed bill to Tic Tac box effect) Cagey (my two card transpo) Sudden Impact Casual performance: Ace Thang (my impromptu take on Richard Sanders' King Thing) Elevation Wilder (impromptu Wild Card effect)

    Pandora by Liam Montier

It's REALLY easy to make. Really. :) Liam is not only a friend of mine but he's also one of the most creative magicians I know. Seriously. He has an amazing knack for creating hard hitting, off beat magic that's easy to do. And this compilation is an excellent example of that. Definitely check...

    And All Will Be Consumed

Including the gimmick is a very good idea. Why? Because many magicians simply don't like making stuff. They want to be able to do stuff "right out of the box". Nothing wrong with that, btw. But as someone who has released more than a few effects, I find I sell more when I include gimmicks with...

    And all will be consumed?!

Craig, your post was a good one. But it doesn't apply to Chris as he credits those who need to be credited. What Chris has done is take an old concept and added a new element to it which makes it, I believe, a bit more deceptive. A lay person would never be able to back track this.

A step back into the classics

For what it's worth, here are my thoughts. ACR works best when each phase happens under a different condition than the last. When I do my first phase of ACR, 8 times out of 10, the spectators say, "Do it again." I do. But I use a completely different method the second time, third time and fourth...

Kaos - Surgical Card Thru Window - Sean Beard

I got this when it first came out and think it's great. I did have a little problem with one aspect but there are ways around it. Glad to see people giving it up for an "old" trick! Doesn't happen much. :)

    Magic Related Habits

Wow! And I thought it was just me! :) I do all that stuff: classic palm bottle caps, Tenkai credit cards, false transfer change, retention vanish, etc. Do it ALL the time.

Mickey Silver Lecture - Best Retention Vanish EVER

Interesting comments on his style. I think it's great. Because, unless I'm reading it wrong, it's SUPPOSED to be cheesy. He's being ironic. I find it interesting in this day and age where irony is second nature to most people that a lot of people on this thread can't see that. He's having a go...

I was thinking about getting this. Looks like I might have too, now! Thanks for the review.

Wanting to learn at the Magic Castle

I was going to say, there are a lot of terrific magicians who don't live in California. You could probably find a mentor most anywhere. The trick is finding one. Most of the guys I know are always happy to help a less experienced magician, as long as they are serious about it.

    Are We Ever Satisfied?

Great question. The answer is different for everyone. I love learning new magic. But I don't buy magic simply because I was to perform it. I buy magic because I like seeing what's out there. I like learning new presentations and routines. It helps inspire my own work.

    Counterfeit Hollingworth by Wayne Houchin

This is really great. Seeing it live at Wayne's lecture was wonderful.

    Seen This Before?

At its heart, it's a variation of Chicago Opener. It needs a little fleshing out. Right now it lacks motivation. It's a color change and a back revelation but one doesn't lead to the other. It needs a good set up for the ending. As far as the double issue, the turnover itself looked...

Why is this is a male-dominated industry?

That's kind of the point I was making. BTW, illusionists are magicians by definition. It's interesting that some people draw a line between illusionists and magicians. It's all the same thing. Even close up guys are illusionists. They perform illusions, albeit small ones. Unless, of...

Why is this is a male-dominated industry?

What needs does magic fulfill? When we dig deep, a lot of people are into magic because they want to feel powerful and want people to acknowledge that power. It's an insecurity that usually draws us into wanting to perform magic: we want other people to like us. As we progress and become more...

WH's T&R on sale. Limited to 100. I bought mine!

This is a great T&R and totally worth getting... And this is coming from a guy who already has a T&R on the market! :)

    Magic Shop Question

Sad thing is, GOOD shops are getting harder and harder to find. Most shops support themselves by renting out costumes and selling pranks. A lot of them have case of standard dealer items (not bad stuff by any means, just standard stuff: invisible decks, svengalli's, thumb tips, copper, silver...
