    Why we love Jerrys Nugget!

    I don't love Jerry Nuggets. Not that great of a card, to be honest and I have not fallen for the hype.

    Humming Card Endangered?

    While it's certainly frustrating that some great tricks are sold in toy stores, as others have pointed out, it's been going on for decades. My parents bought me magic sets when I was a kid back in the 70s at Sears and other department stores. It's doesn't really hurt magic. And as someone said...

    New Effect I Created!

    The Schwartzman subtlety is the one where you poke some cards out of the middle of the deck before inserting it into the Tilt break. I met Howie a few months ago and learned that bit of info. I always thought it was Jennings for some reason!

    My Embarrassing Concern.......

    So once you get your script down, connecting with people is key. Also, feeling out their energy and matching it. For example, when I did restaurant work, when I would approach a loud table of college students, I would get a bit more loud and raucous. I would match them. Maybe even top them...

    DRESSCODE by Calen Morelli REVIEW

    I have no idea why I have not purchased this yet. I saw Calen do this in person and it just looks awesome.

    Interlace by Richard Sanders

    Fantastic trick! I used to do this all the time at my restaurants. Unfortunately, the piece of clothing that was gimmicked is a bit worn out so I need to install a new one in, well, those of you who own this know what I'm talking about. Highly recommend this trick for the "worker".

    The Hole Thing:: Chris Mayhew

    Wow! Some of you guys are a tough crowd! :) I think $10 for this incredible idea and two awesome routines is more than fair. Definitely check out Clockwork Apple. Terrific booklet!

    Davenports Cameron Francis Lecture

    Hi, guys! A little late to the party, here, but I just stumbled upon this thread. The lecture at Davenports was great! Anyway, Alfie, no need to wait, my friend. The whole point of lectures is to LEARN. It doesn't matter how much experience you have. In fact, I would say that as a beginner...

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

    BTW, I should have prefaced what I said by saying this: I don't believe Internet exposure is the end of magic as we know it. As others have stated, you have to have an interest in this stuff to go seek it out. I think the majority of lay people don't care enough to even attempt to look up a...

    Reacting to Reactions

    No matter how good of a performer you are, you will always experience different reactions from different people. Perform the same trick for 20 people and Some will freak out. Some will be stunned. Some will be completely unimpressed. This is because every person you perform for has...

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

    Well, I'm totally against it, obviously. Look, once you buy an effect, do with it what you will. Change the patter or the routine. Perform it live on the internet, I'm all for it. Just don't expose it. I am totally against exposure of any kind. I don't like exposure on YouTube or anywhere...

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

    Interesting topic. I create and release magic commercially. Here are a few of my thoughts from that point of view: I know there will always be people who watch a demo, figure out the trick and start performing it right away without buying it. However, most of these people are not...

    Prohibition: Provisions Review

    Ever since Jeff told me he was sending me an advanced copy of Provisions, the bonus disc which is included in the relaunch of Charlie Justice's Prohibition effect, I've been giddy as a school boy (just like Indy's dad). I couldn't wait to get it in the mail as I am a big fan of Prohibition and I...

    Sweetly Done | Shane Black

    This is a VERY good trick. Fooled me when I saw the demo. Slapped my head when I learned the method. I love tricks like this. Simple, powerful and very easy to do.

    Experience: The Magic of Jon Allen by John Lovick

    I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of this book from Andi Gladwin over at www.vanishingincmagic.com. Just finished reading it and I am happy to report that it is fantastic. The first chapter details Jon's IBM close up competition act. It is very magical, funny, surprising and...

    Why is your card between to others?

    That's a pretty broad generalization of sandwich effects... I've found many sandwich effects to be very effective on a lay audience.

    Wild Card Live Performance

    Really good. I always forget how powerful that trick can be. You just inspired me to perform it again. :)

    Rehab-Cameron Franics :: Review

    I will say this about Rehab, it's very adaptable. In other words, if you want to make look more flashy, you could certainly do that. In fact, I'm sure there are many of you who could make it look a lot better than I do.
