For the workers, go big or tease?

In all likely hood if they saw you perform at a party or restaurant, I doubt they are going to care if you perform something new or different JUST for them. They didn't hire you for that reason, they hired you to perform for their guests who haven't seen you perform.

    Tremor problem...

Mick Jagger still get's the shakes every time he's performed in front of live people and he's been in the business sense the dawn of time. There really isn't a "cure" for the shakes. They will still be there even if you've done thousands of performances, they just won't be as much of a problem...

I'm going to learn that on youtube

Well I was going to say that as well. Though from what was said, it seemed more like when the kid/person performed for the guy he didn't think of it like he was going to convince them of it being a good Business opportunity for said place. Seemed more like he went in there, performed a few...

I'm going to learn that on youtube

That's kind of where you went wrong. If you were there to see if he/she could book you for the place. You don't want to perform any magic for them, you simply want to talk to them about how you performing there will help increase their sales and how you won't get in the way of the staff. Then...

    Roadrunner Cull by Kostya Kimlat

In my opinion I wouldn't suggest opening them up at the same time. You'll end up confusing yourself. Spend a few months slowly working on the first DVD and learning the Cull and some of the other sleights on it for awhile. Then when you feel ready, I'd say go work on the 2nd DVD.

How laymen think or something along those lines.

I doubt they ACTUALLY think it IS up your sleeve. There is a 100% that they are simply joking with you when they say that.

How laymen think or something along those lines.

There is also the fact that you are into magic and they aren't. So while you may know where to look online for that kind of stuff. The people who enjoyed the performance of the other guy, don't know where to look and don't really care to try to look for it.

    Bicycle Twilight Angels

I don't think your lay audiences will notice if the back design of one card is slightly different than the other, believe or not but regular folk don't pay attention to details like that and if they ask about you could simply say you lost a card and just replaced it with one from a different deck.

    After Card College

Like I mentioned earlier, go back and find the stuff you liked and then work on that stuff for awhile. This should save you money in the long run and would actually help you a lot.

Introducing an illusion and deceptions unit for LA

Just one thing though, this seems like your teacher is going to have you perform and then she'll "expose" how you did it to show the "deception" and "Illusion" part. This could pretty much make impossible for you to perform for friends for a long time because afterwards they're just going to...

    After Card College

Now that you've read the volumes.. Go back and pick out the effects you liked the most and work on making them entertaining and "mastering" them, then perform them.

    Performance Styles

I present it as a mystery. If somebody wants to believe I did REAL magic than more power to them, who am I to tell them otherwise? if they want to believe it's something else, then again more power to them.

New Release on the Wire: Get Gigs & Keep Clients

I don't think Zack is a credible testimonial just because he read the book. Reading a book doesn't really make you a credible testimonial to it. Otherwise, I am a credible testimonial to Hugard and Braue because I have read their books. etc etc. I do agree though that this is a better a thing...

    Magicians - Pretentious?

There's nothing wrong with taking what you do seriously. If you actually put the effort into your magic and creativity into, then you should be proud of it. Yes, some people will think this is a bit "pretentious." and well they can go bugger off.

    Pass Trainers

There is also the Richard Kaufmen DVD that is said to also be really good at teaching good technique with the pass.

    America's Got Talent

He probably won't win due to him not having a really marketable act and persona if he is forgettable and even the magicians who do have really good persona's usually also get booted from the show.

    Draven Reflects upon the Wire.

I don't think you can teach things like misdirection or patter creating in a video. While they are good ideas in THEORY. The problem with trying to teach them in a video or book is that misdirection works completely different for pretty much everybody. The same goes for patter creating or...

    Draven Reflects upon the Wire.

I think a better idea would be to just submit those in a PDF form. As for people sending in videos of their effects and whatnot. The main problem I have with this idea is that not everybody is a good teacher. I don't care how good your effect is or how original. Because if the person has a bad...

    Draven Reflects upon the Wire.

That's kind of lame, because not everybody is a good teacher and not everybody has a good video camera or lighting.

    Draven Reflects upon the Wire.

I don't think any of the effects will be performed or taught exactly by the users or people who submitted them. What I figure will happen is that you submit the effect, they research it, and then decide if it's good or bad. Then they just get one of their artists to perform/teach it in a 1 on 1...
