Keep at man! I'm in the same boat with you regarding coin work. I always keep silver dollars with me (Canadian) so I can practice palming when I'm out and about. I find that helps immensely.

I honestly can't think of any better resource than Jason England's videos on false deals. All I can suggest is to sit down with a deck of cards and do nothing but practice your technique. Sorry to hear about your breakup.

It's in the ending half of the video. I wouldn't call it an illusion per se, it came off more as a gag if anything. I didn't really see it as crude though. I would define it as silly, and if I came across it outside of theory 11, I wouldn't have any idea that it was supposed to be a magic trick...
