    To Identify Level

But surely that implies the old adage that "Practice makes perfect" which, whilst a good mantra to teach to kids, is surely flawed in real life? Practicing singing for ten years doesn't make someone a master singer for example... Just look at Casey Donovan :P

    Cardini Change? Ego Change?

I took my descriptions directly from Hugard's Card Manipulations and Garcia's DGP Vol 1. I rechecked them again, and I don't think I'm mistaken. To take one example, for number one, Hugard writes: "Insert the top joint of the third finger under the face card." with an accompanying picture that...

    Spam

Well, there's honestly not a lot people can do to stop ordinary people signing up and spamming. They mostly do it in the wee hours of the morning when most people, at least in North America, are asleep, to maximise visibility. Short of doing a Magic Café, it probably won't be stopped in its...

    cardini

Frezzik - I just posted a thread on the difference between an Ego Change and a Cardini Change. The Ego Change uses only the pinky (although it pivots the card off the middle finger). http://forums.theory11.com/showthread.php?p=278931#post278931 :)

    Cardini Change? Ego Change?

Hey guys, For once, a really short post from me. Over the time I've been here, every now and again a post has come up asking what the difference is between a Cardini Change and an Ego Change. And more often than every now and again, a video is posted claiming to be one, when it is in fact the...

    2 or 3?

I think the biggest difference is that 2 is more a collection of effects, and 3 leans towards a collection of sleights. The advanced worker will find more value in 3 I believe, because what you will paying for are tools rather than effects, whilst intermediate or beginner workers will find more...

    Sports Prediction

I was recently put in the awkward position of inadvertently "discovering" the method of Postmentalism, without realising that that was the method, having played with ideas and uses for the necessary gimmick for a few months. Oops. Gotta love independent invention. It would certainly work. The...

    Finally...

Two or Three - see other thread. If you take time on this, and are interested in developing your own material, this could be worth it. Genesis - If you like that sort of thing, it's a good investment. Bullet - Come up with your own method. It's probably just as good. There was only one thing...

    cardini

The Cardini Change uses the ring finger, not the pinky :) Therefore technically it was not a Cardini.

    To Identify Level

If a guy says he's a beginner, he probably is a beginner, though there's a chance he's being humble. If a guy says he's an intermediate, he's almost certainly a beginner. If a guy doesn't rate himself, then the probability that he is advanced increases exponentially. People are generally...

    Prediction Card Trick ... ?

Look up the concepts of The Open Prediction and/or 51 Faces North. Card plots that could keep you busy for the rest of your life...

    Name of a change?

According to Medifro, the concept was originally published in Apocalypse. So I'd probably do some research on that. I'd rate it pretty likely that it's been published already, unfortunately. You might want to try PM'ing Brad Henderson too. He'd probably be able to help you out.

    card trix for newbies?

Exactly as put by the people above me. I'm here to correct bad advice. I never once said T11 products are bad, and I challenge you to quote me where I said that. There are simply much better starting points to card magic.

    Mentalism DVDs

A short list of the best there is and ever has been... Fundamentals by Bob Cassidy Annemann's The Jinx and Practical Mental Magic (aka Practical Mental Effects) Corinda's 13 Steps to Mentalism (or Osterlind's DVD version of 13 Steps) For mentalism beginners, there's nothing better. For full...

    Psychological Subtleties 2 or 3

The second one is worth the money. Unlike the first, it's much more a collection of effects, many of which take advantage of psychological forces. Don't be fooled though - the effects are great, but like the original, the true value is in the subtext.

    card trix for newbies?

That's the worst advice I've ever heard. Hi jfoto, welcome to Theory11. For a real answer to your question, there are several ways to start card magic. Probably the recommended and certainly one of the best is the book Royal Road to Card Magic by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue. It's cheap...

    Double Back Tallys

I believe one is included in at least some Tally Ho decks. If you need multiple, you may have to buy multiple decks if you don't wish to make them yourself.
