    Humming Card Endangered?

Vague, You are exactly correct. Svengali decks and magic sets have been sold to the public for decades. It is what introduced and brought many of us into the art prior to the days of the Internet.

    Tips for a Birthday Performance

As Draven and Luis said, awesome idea on Dresscode and definitely plan on the 15 minutes. I'd try to squeeze 3-4 effects into that time frame. A good rope routine (fiber optics) always plays nicely for a large crowd of that size and you can make it as beginner-advanced as you want. If it were...

Ideas? Maybe, possibly, hopefully? (Job related frustrations)

Most magicians who own brick and mortar shops LIKE and NEED to sell tricks that most laymen can do right out of the box as Luis mentioned. If a mom and her two children walk into the shop and they want to buy a few items, you better believe the owner is going to show basically self working...

    Balloon Aminals

I do balloon twisting all of the time and make good money. You guys will laugh but all you really need is a dog, sword, bumble bee, heart, teddy bear, monkey, basic hats, giraffe, mouse, flower, etc. All of the multi balloon creations do NOT work well for line work at festivals and big events...

    first birthday gig

15 minutes seems a bit shy of a show for a paying client unless it is just for friends / family. For your first show I would shoot for 25-30 minutes and charge $50.00 After you have about 10-20 paying gigs under your belt, then it would be ok to bump it up to $100-$150 for a 40 minute show. I...

Is It Too Late to Learn?

I'm 33 and I'm still learning different aspects of magic and technique. Jump right in man and have a blast. I didn't even start until I was 21.

What would happen if all decks got discontinued?

I'd be ok for awhile. If there weren't any cards left in the world...I guess I would make my own with some thick card stock and my computer and printer. It probably coat them with some type of clear coat afterwards and hope for the best...ha ha.

    Picking up girls with magic?

Confidence is key. Do not attack the girl with your magic. As it was mentioned...if you want noticed, perform magic for people around the girl you are possibly interested in and then stop after a few hard hitting effects hit and people enjoyed the performance. Then sit back, order your drink and...

    Rubber Band Meltdown

Good question. I use it all of the time and do not know where it originated either.

    Impromptu Magic?

Good Card to Wallet with no palming what so ever is Josh Jay's TRANSPORTER effect. You get the DVD and gimmick. Highly recommended. Rubber band routines: Jumper, CMH, broken and restored, up the nose, star gazer by alan wong, Stairway, anything by Dan Harlan. There is a new Touch DVD out as well.

    Impromptu Magic?

Ring Thing and Crazy Man's Hand Cuff's will blow away most laymen if you are called out right on the spot.

A New Effect I Created! Tell Me What You Think

It seemed a bit sloppy on the DL and "get readies". What was the purpose of angling out the card at 0:27 and then at 0:32 you just sort of push the cards around on the mat with no purpose? I understand that we see the 10 of diamonds jump from the one ace pair to the other. Thank you for...

    Schwarzman's Die-Na-Myte

Nope...he didn't do it this weekend. That sounds interesting though.

    Does this work on stage?

FPS, Do not even attempt a card trick on stage with standard size cards. You could get a way with the new Phoenix Parlour cards which are very nice if it was a small crowd of 200 or so in a smaller venue. Jumbo size are nice for things like Jumbo Twisted Sisters or the McCombical Deck.

    Schwarzman's Die-Na-Myte

Howie was just at the Battle in Canton this weekend. He is getting old but is still impressive. His close up show he did was excellent and his laugh is hilarious. Great guy. What is this effect...I'm wondering if I saw him perform it this weekend.

Hung Out with David Stone Some This Weekend

You guys definitely want to catch him when he is near you. I would have paid and driven at least two hours to see the lecture I was able to see.

Hung Out with David Stone Some This Weekend

This past weekend was the Battle of Magicians in Canton, Ohio. There were many great magicians there from all over but the guy who impressed me the most was in fact David Stone. His coin work is the best in the world. His lecture blew anyone away that I have seen to date and I have seen quite a...

    A Magician's Journal-"Urban Legend Chronicles"-La Nuit

Nice work Luis. I'm telling you man, the word of mouth is going to spread like wild fire man. You are going to be a hit before you know it. Start to spread out of your area a tad too. Obviously all of the places right near you within 5-10 minutes know you. I would venture out a little further...

    What do you think?

Cups and balls didn't look bad at all but really began dragging on...I found myself losing interest. I'm just being honest. Maybe do the other loads and deck load a lot sooner. Movements and loads are pretty good actually. One flash at 1:37 that probably would have flown by half of your...
