Well, I've got a problem here, because no laymen has a deck of Bikes in his possession, ever. But if you want to borrow a deck, obviously you need to use Bikes or whatever the most common deck is where you live.

Ask your knowledgeable peers. Do your research. Unfortunately, there are no easy ways to do it, except to research and find all the variations of the plot you can find, and ask the right people. Ask, for example, Brad Henderson.

Final thoughts on flourishing during card magic

This one, Keoke: http://forums.theory11.com/showthread.php?t=22836 In it, I also explain one possible exception to what I would generally agree with.

Yes and no. No, firstly, because anyone can palm a card, as proven by many legends past and present, no matter the hand size. Yes, it matters, because, unfortunately, it does mean that you'll have to work a little harder to conceal it better, and work out what works for you. Truth is, even if...

    Deck Production?

If you can dig it out, T11's very own Matthieu Bich has an absolutely startling one, which made me jump out of my seat.

There actually are. Check out Jack Parker's 52 Memories for three excellent pieces - if only to show your magician friends. I usually don't like or believe in magician foolers per se - but I make an exception for this, it's truly entertaining.

    Your favourite Killer?

DEFINITELY agreed 100%. Crossroads is a very nice idea, although it didn't suit me too well, but imho Seven absolutely tops it. Not to mention that I could see myself performing every single routine in TSP, which in itself is absolutely remarkable.

Final thoughts on flourishing during card magic

For most people, it's nothing but a little habit they do in their chair in front of the computer, and you're right to ask that question, because rarely do we see a performer who gives flourishing its own significance in and of itself. That's a problem with flourishing and the community. For...

    Does flourishing kill card magic?

Actually, in real life, it's not that simple. I agree with you, but it's not that simple. For example: Imagine an effect where the magician poses as a professional card cheat. He goes on to demonstrate difficult moves that a card cheat may perform, including, perhaps, a quick flourishy table...

Haha. I use Bryn Reynold's variation on KK, incidentally. I quite enjoy Invisible Deal Force in particular. Also: Docc Hilford.

Final thoughts on flourishing during card magic

I think you'll find most pros of the calibre you're talking about will advise people not to flourish between magic, just from observation. Just wanted to add that in there - like Lovell and Roth in the other thread, for example. That's just about as big as they get in terms of pros.

    Truffle Shuffle?

It's not an easy move, but is usable. It's helpful for me since I do a fair amount of stack work. As with any such sleight, will withstand scrutiny, but should be used whilst attention is not focussed on the deck.

    Freaky Card Magic

I've never seen an actual video of Sympathy being performed unfortunately. Although to some extent I'm glad of it - only those who actually purchase the effect will be able to see how amazing it is. The perfectly constructed routine. Presentation and technical skill are two main areas people...

    Does flourishing kill card magic?

Given that Simon Lovell and David Roth saw your magic in person, and we're talking about it in theory here, I would take their advice. Personally, I don't flourish during performances, and I agree with them. Theoretically, it's arguable, though I again would not agree. There are rare...
