The Venus Trap by Chris "Orbit" Brown

There's a difference between one time encountering a single informed spectator and having an issue where all your spectators know what a double lift is. Perhaps next time you should read closer before you chime in--you know, in order to avoid making a fool of yourself.

The Venus Trap by Chris "Orbit" Brown

I find your response odd, and it makes me wonder why you think so many magicians continue to use the move if all spectators seem to know what a double lift is? Weird. I've met very few people who knew what a double lift was. And even then they didn't know when I did one (I use the push off)...

    Static?

Cool effect. Not Haunted Deck cool. Or $20 cool. But cool.

    Anaconda DVD - A $72.000 production?

Yes it is. But $72.000 isn't much at all.

How is magic an art and how can you convey that to your audience?

I disagree. Magicians don't need to come across as "legendary." Legendary to me draws up images of an old wizard in a cloak with a white beard. Copperfield, David Blaine, Criss Angel, Doug Hennig--nothing about their characters came/comes across as someone who is a legendary magician. If...

How is magic an art and how can you convey that to your audience?

Telling your spectators it's art doesn't make it so. If you want people to see your magic as art, perform it like it's art. That's it. Darwin Ortiz probably has the best take on this subject I've ever read in his book, Designing Miracles. Basically, his philosophy is magicians waste way too...

The Venus Trap by Chris "Orbit" Brown

The spectators should never have "the possibility of a double lift" in their minds. If they do, the magician is doing something wrong.

    MAGIC Live?

Cool. Anybody going to see any shows while they're out there? I packed my days before and after the convention with Mac King, Penn & Teller, Lance Burton, David Copperfield and Cirque du Soleil's "O." Five shows in 2 1/2 days. :)

If you've ever invented a trick...

I came up with an impromptu card at any number I'm kind of proud of. I've shown it to a few of my magician friends and got quite a few of them on it (not that that means anything). Seems to go over really well. Still polishing it up, but it's probably my favorite thing I've come up with as I...

    MAGIC Live?

I'll be in Vegas from the 14th to the 21st. Anyone else going interested in meeting up?

    I got on TV!

Congrats on putting yourself out there and doing some busking and getting on TV. Keep up the good work.

Real Life Bullet Catch - Daniel Madison

Cool story to match the cool scar. But you have to ask yourself, why risk your life in a fight over a few material possessions? Just give them what they're threatening your life for and enjoy the walk home.

Can you provide a description of the effects? I have no idea what you're reviewing.

    Remembering Tricks

I have a word document I'm constantly updating. The first page is all the tricks I'm currently performing. They're broken up into the categories: Cards, Other, and Set-Up/Situational. This list is my current performing repertoire. Anything in italics on the list means it requires a gimmick...

    Timeline 2.0 question

I'm actually finding the first move a lot easier than the second. For some reason my fingers just don't want to cooperate in making that one card slide over.

    Symphony trailer music

I was also very impressed with the music. I've had the song in my head for two days now.

    Can't Submit a Ticket

I'm posting this here because I can't submit a ticket (had my password sent to me too and it still won't take it) and I don't see any email address listed on the site to send an email to. I just purchased Symphony. I had it almost all the way downloaded but had to leave where I was at. When I...

    Someone hands you a dollar...

OK, I couldn't resist. I just ordered Time is Money. Looks great, it's impromptu, and you can't get much better endorsers than Chris Kenner and Paul Harris. I'm really liking how Jacob's Ladder looks too. Two new impromptu money effects--this makes me happy. :)
