SEPTEMBER 2009: That Feeling of Wonder

There are a few videos I've come across that, to me, were very magical. Blinded by Business Where the Hell is Matt? Muto Wallpainting Damien Walters Danny MacAskill In my own personal life, Cirque du Soleil's water show, "O," was absolute magic to me. I'm not even going to try and put it...

David Blaine - What is magic. New Special?

I think it's just DB's cut of the Dive of Death special with a new name to take the focus off the failed Dive of Death stunt and instead put it on the magic and the bullet catch--which were the best parts of the show, as well as more than enough to carry the show, anyhow. DoD, I thought, had...

    What control's do you use?

Classic Pass Jog Shuffle Control Versatile Card Control LePaul Bluff Pass Marlo's Tilt Double Undercut + Overhand Shuffle Top Change I also like the old Tom Mullica thing where he just keeps a break when he replaces the other half of the deck back and then just waits a beat and shuffles off...

Wounded - Smith's Pulse Stop Handling

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate it. Can you answer my question though? The way he teaches it--with how to get into it in front of the spectators--does he use or require a jacket with his handling?

Wounded - Smith's Pulse Stop Handling

I've been thinking about getting Wounded for a while now and I'm still on the fence about it. I'm curious about Smith's handling of the classic pulse stop. The way he teaches it--with how to get into it in front of the spectators--does he use or require a jacket with his handling? Thanks.

    A $1000 Dollar Routine

You obviously are not familiar with Paul or his work then. Paul is a great guy and a great mind in magic. In my opinion he's one of the most talented performers/creators out there. If you're curious about just who Paul is and what his standing in the magic community is, check this out...

    My Version of Timeline 2.0

It felt rushed. And I don't understand why you changed it. Loading the card in the box and showing it empty yourself instead of having your spec doing it weakens the effect. And it only takes a few seconds to have your spec sign the card. My advice is, unless you can strengthen the effect...

    Impromptu Sit Down Magic?

My favorite piece of impromptu magic specifically designed for being seated at a table is Karrell Fox's Napkin Vanish. It's super visual and just plain brilliant. This is the one Tom Mullica has performed and taught in a few places.

The Five Lives of Criss Angel on A&E

It isn't too hard to figure out where he's used camera edits. But even so, there are videos all over YouTube from careful observers exposing his camera trick effects and breaking them down. Do a search and you'll find quite a bit.

    Thieves! A Watch Steal DVD?

Especially since it would involve resurrecting Chappy Brazil from the dead.

    Thieves! A Watch Steal DVD?

If Apollo ever puts out a DVD on his pickpocketing techniques it will sell like hotcakes. People have been waiting for this for a long time. Hopefully one day it will happen. Until then, Chappy Brazil's Watch Steal DVD continues to remain the best.

    Vanish a straw....In Ketchup!

I thought it was really funny. Especially when it got messy. My friend and I do stupid stuff like this when we get together to magish too. Made me laugh. :)

    Looking for a TnR

+2 for Ripped and Fryed. It fits what you're looking for EXACTLY. Great method, very visual and deceptive, and very practical. Good angles and almost impromptu too! Also, keep in mind while watching the video Sanj posted that while it does give you a good idea of what the effect looks like...

The Venus Trap by Chris "Orbit" Brown

"Spectators aren't stupid, they know what a double lift is." That's a general statement about all your spectators. If that's not what you meant then perhaps you should work on writing with a bit more clarity.
