    Do you like Books?

NOWHERE did I say, or imply, any such thing. I've simply made an argument for why reading books in general is a good thing. That's it. Perhaps you should brush up on your reading comprehension skills.

    Do you like Books?

I think you're really just missing my point. I thought I was pretty clear in my second explanation. Sorry if it's still not making sense, but I don't know how to explain it other than the way I have already.

    Do you like Books?

Well, Mr. Sardonic, my point is that if you don't read you have to rely on someone else who does read to tell you the information you're looking for, whereas if you read regularly you can go out and buy/borrow a book on the information you want and gain it instantly. Everything you'll ever want...

How to Cheat at Everything by Simon Lovell

Foul language and blue humor don't bother me at all. It's not that his humor didn't fit my taste, he just wasn't funny. And this was the general consensus from everyone I went with (about four or five other magicians). It definitely wasn't supposed to be part of his act. He wasn't trying to...

How to Cheat at Everything by Simon Lovell

The four or so other magicians I went with didn't like his act either. In fact, I think one of my friends even told him the whole show was bad, including his act. I think he was too drunk to care or realize it was true though. I'm not saying the guy has a bad act or that he is a bad magician...

If you want to read some really good essays on magic check out some of these books: Absolute Magic (Derren Brown) Pure Effect (Derren Brown) Strong Magic (Darwin Ortiz) Beyond Secrets (Jay Sankey) Making Magic Real (Richard Osterlind) Making Real Magic (Richard Osterlind) Art of...

    Do you like Books?

Hate books? Man, some of you guys scare me. How are you going to learn anything aside from what other people tell you if you don't read? Do you have any idea how much knowledge you're separating yourself from by choosing not to read? I love books. I can't imagine not reading regularly. I think...

How to Cheat at Everything by Simon Lovell

I've heard pretty much nothing but good things about Simon Lovell, but the one time I actually saw him perform myself (he was the host for a magic show) I was incredibly disappointed. He was drunk and put on a horrible show that consisted of lots of bad jokes and hardly any magic. It was awful.

Favorite Effects From Other Creators (WH)

Or maybe there's just a lot of people named Wayne on the forums and they thought this thread was addressed to them? Haha. I thought it was a good question a lot of people might benefit from depending on how (and if) Wayne answered. Also, I think someone recently made a thread that they couldn't...

Favorite Effects From Other Creators (WH)

Wayne: A lot of us here--if asked to list some of our favorite effects--would have Sinful, Stigmata, Indecent, and (in the near future I'm sure) Control on our lists. So my question to you is this: we've seen you perform your own material, but aside from your own creations, what are some of...

Control :: New Video & Podcast

Wayne: You said in the podcast that you shot some material for Paul Harris's True Astonishments series at the Christmas party performance. On the Stigmata DVD we got a sneak peak at Control. On Control will we get any sneak peeks at any effects planned for True Astonishments, or any of your...

I love these forums so much...

I like the magic E puts out but, as others have already pointed out, their forums are way too Nazi Germany. I too have had Mods insult me with a counter argument then close the thread to prevent me from responding. It's disrespectful and immature. Not to mention the Mods over there constantly...

Thanks so much for the help, Jim. I'll listen on my way home. Thanks again.

Control :: New Video & Podcast

I listen to podcacts in the car on my iPod. I don't like sitting at the computer for long amounts of time, and if I do, I'm doing a lot of writing and can't focus on listening to a podcast. If it's a "podcast" I should be able to listen to it on my "iPod."

Control :: New Video & Podcast

How do I download the podcast so I can put it on my iPod? I don't see any "download" button to click or anything to subscribe to.

    Your Three Favourite Magicians

Thanks for the advice there, Dr. Phil, but I think you missed the point of the discussion. While I completely agree there is no "Magic Dress Code," you still want to be considerate of the environment your employer is paying you to perform in. If you're working in a nice restaurant make sure...

    Your Three Favourite Magicians

Actually, I should have mentioned Doug Henning first. He was really the first to really change the image of a magician as a clean cut guy in a tux with a top hat to a scruffy guy in bright casual clothes. Blaine just updated it and took it a little further. Angel, however, contributed nothing...

    Your Three Favourite Magicians

That was David Blaine actually. Nobody wears more "normal looking clothes" than him. Copperfield strayed pretty far from the stereotype of how a magician was expected to look as well. Criss Angel just jumped on the bandwagon. I also would argue that Criss Angel doesn't exactly wear "normal...

When does Control preview come out?

I've been looking forward to Control ever since I heard it was impromptu. I'm buying it the moment it's released, which I pretty much NEVER do. But it's my kind of magic from one of my favorite creators, and Wayne has built a good rep with me with the effects he's released so I know I won't be...

    Your Three Favourite Magicians

    1. David Blaine 2. David Copperfield 3. Cyril Takayama Best magicians alive today in my opinion. Always on the cutting edge, pushing the art forward. And all three seem like they'd be really cool people to hang out with in real life (*coughcrissangelisadouchebagcoughcough*). As far as...
