    Knowing their Card

The Classic Force by Paul Green. A whole DVD dedicated to the classic force by a true master of the force. Excellent video with some very good effects on it as well. Best source for learning the force in my opinion. That's where I learned it and it's pretty much the only force I use.

    Knowing their Card

With effects like Indecent or CTW, letting the spec know you know what the card is, before they see it themselves, is doing nothing but undercutting the tension created before the spec sees the card for themselves. In other words, it's like telling the spec how the story ends rather than letting...

Mental Effect Review: Paul Vigil's Diplopia

Did the trick not work because you needed the 3 of Spaes for that specific performance, or do you mean that you have to have a full 52 card deck to make the trick word period?

    Look what I found

I'm excited about Madison releasing something through T11, but more card magic? Isn't there enough already? I know T11 is still a VERY young company, but I'd really like to start seeing some releases that really do feel like something different. I guess when Control releases that will be the...

    Shadow Coins

The cleanest, most magical looking Shadow Coins is Ammar's. I know it's taught on the World's Greatest Magic: Expanded Shell DVD. If you're looking for something impromptu, Garcia's Shade is a good option. I have one I perform that I love but I can't recall whose routine it is.

Tricks vs. Routines - What do you do?

I thought it was obvious I was illustrating an example of the extreme, as Steve did in his initial post, with my rebuttal. I'm really glad you picked up on it too, as you are exactly right--neither side is right or wrong. One phase effects and multi-phase routines both absolutely have a place in...

Tricks vs. Routines - What do you do?

The problem with the argument here is that it's being set-up that "Tricks" = Uncle Joe, Routines = Magic. That's not exactly a fair argument to put forth. David Blaine doesn't tell longwinded stories and make a bunch of bad jokes when he performs, but I'd hardly say that makes him Uncle Joe...

    Wayne Houchin : Criss Angel

It's most likely part of the Criss Angel Likes to Screw Other Creators Pattern (TM) that so many others have experienced. Check out Sankey's interview in last month's Street Magic mag with the knowledge that Sankey is a classy guy, and read between his lines.

    Paul Harris Presents FLOW

I found the Skin trailer the day I found the Flow trailer. I agree--looks very cool. The coin bend he's doing is pretty much the same method I use, but the psychology he's put into it is much more than I'm doing now. I can't wait to pick up Skin and learn some new psychological techniques to...

    Paul Harris Presents FLOW

Trailer's finally up. Should be releasing any day now. Looks awesome. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J756W5otHZI.

    Daniel Madison Breach

...which is why I've never let myself get sucked into all those 'coin through glass table' effects that have been put out since everyone saw Cyril do it. I've been to exactly one restaurant in the last three years that had glass tables. And I'm not big on glass coffee table magic at people's homes.

What would you like to see sold in the T11 GEAR section?

Awesome idea. I too would love a t-shirt with the Guardian artwork. As for the rest of the stuff, I'll pass. I'm not a fan of decking myself out in companies' logos and making myself look like a walking advertisement for consumerism.

    Trick of the Year

The only thing I got this year that I've really gotten use out of has been the Loops DVD set. I've spent most of this year working with loops and learning a few older effects I hadn't gotten around to. Not much has excited me this year. I like Factory Sealed and Bullet ok, but I still prefer...

    Can't wait until January 2008...

I've been waiting for Control for a long time. Wayne's built a lot of good will with me by releasing nothing but quality products over the last few years. I've never been disappointed--so I'll be picking this one up the second it goes on sale. Something I do with very few creators. Count me...

    Can't wait until January 2008...

I can't wait until Heroes comes back. I really like that they're splitting this season into two volumes. Best show on TV in my opinion.

    Best Gimmick You Have

Loops. Mesika's floating ring from his Animated Miracles book floors people. Add in Nate Kranzo's Haunted Deck, DG's Life and Hair, and Mesika's Mystery Glasses and you have a really lethal arsenal. My second would definitely be the thumb tip. The two main effects I use with it are a bill...

    Jay Sankey on Fancy Decks

I agree that the magician's demeanor plays a part but I think you're being pretty narrowminded in thinking that the magician's demeanor is the sole reason for suspicion and that spectators do not have thoughts of their own outside of what those the magician projects to them through his...

    Jay Sankey on Fancy Decks

He hit the nail on the head in my opinion. I've had the exact same experiences. I'm glad to see a top name finally step up and say it. From his newsletter:
