    A Word To The Wise

Never said I wasn't :p I just think they are unnecessary. Magic isn't place for an exhibition of skills... in fact the more skills exhibited in a routine, the more suspicious your effects will look. Again, just my opinion.

    A Word To The Wise

You make a good point... I assume flourishes actually would be good for cutting through the motionless parts of the routine. I should have been more specific.... It's mostly out of place when the magician "gives the deck a cut" and proceeds to go into 20 seconds of fancy XCM cuts. Kind of...

Goals for the end of summer '08

    1. Purchase as many different decks as I can (Steamboats, Aladdins, special Bikes, Tallys, Dr. Leons, Nuggets, etc.) 2. Perfect my Pass.

    A Word To The Wise

Think about it... the average flourish takes approximately 10 seconds to complete. A double undercut takes 2 seconds. Long flourishes create a large timelapse in the effect and ruins the timing. Many young magicians fail to remember the important things aside from the actual technique such as...

    A Word To The Wise

Of course... some magicians can effectively transition between effects using flourishes. And yes, I personally believe that brief, flashy things are fine but I just personally think large things like Pandora, Jackson 5, and Madonna are very out of place.

    A Word To The Wise

I've never personally seen Dan or Dave mix the two, they are both done seperately. I mean more XCM type stuff, not the basics like springs and fans. With a juggler, it's different, because you can't mix juggling with juggling. Flourishes are juggling and I feel they destroy an effects rhythm.

    LOL nice one!

    A Word To The Wise

Hey, I'm even guilty to some extent, I just feel that using a flourish longer than 3 seconds is overkill and overproving. Some people can combine flourishy cuts and things into their work but doing an endless exhibition of 16-packet cuts is just not going to work. Sybil, Kev Ho's Corkscrew...

    A Word To The Wise

Do NOT mix flourishes to magic... magic place advertise and sell flourishing products and that can be misleading and send out mixed messages. Putting a 45 second flourish into your act not only destroys the rhythm of the effect but also makes you look like a jerk that is rubbing in their skills...

G-Force: The Anti Gravity Experience by Steve Fearson

G-FORCE: THE ANTI GRAVITY EXPERIENCE BY STEVE FEARSON Effect: A fork is borrowed off the dinner table and the magician proposes to alter gravity, and reality, for a moment. He asks a willing spectator to stick out the index fingers of both hands, and the fork is balanced on top of them. He...

Are Dan and Dave Buck The Same Person?

    Nothing I should say publicly.

    Wow...Very Cheap Jerry's.

A sealed deck of Nuggets for $4.00???? Something doesn't add up there.
  16. Michael Kras

    A Question

Amen to that! Magic and flourishing do NOT mix.

    Solid Gold Deck

These are so much better than Nuggets... they'll last a lifetime, even when being used.
