The original way of getting into it is not shown, however getting into it with the Clip Shift is. Once you know how to do this the change itself is very simple and can be performed just by watching the DVD. So you can perform the Winter Change just by watching Surfaced.

It's a minor variation on the orignial Reset routine by Paul Harris, you can just learn that then watch a performance of Repo Retro and work out the small differences. I normally wouldn't advise doing this sort of thing but it's so close to the original I don't think it really matters.

Angle Zero is the only trick in which cards are ripped, you should not overlook it just because you rip a card, it's one of the most powerful effects on the DVD. Just place a card from an old deck into the deck your using and use that card. You can then perform Angle Zero 52 times from one old deck.
