Hey guys, I figured I would take a few minutes to review Power Word: Fall. This review is based on playing around with different set ups and one performance, it is more of an initial review than an in depth review.
DVD Quality: I usually don't have any complaints when it comes to DVD quality and as far as sound, video and packaging goes, everything here is fine. However, I bet Paper Crane forced their name and logo in during this DVD at least a dozen times. It gets really old having to watch the Paper Crane logo pop up and go away after every single section. I know that this is a small problem but it really annoyed me.
Gimmick: If you order the DVD it comes with the gimmick, if you order the download you will have to buy 2 different items. One will have to be ordered from a magic site and one can be bought pretty much anywhere. The gimmick is good and reliable if used properly.
The Setup: The setup for this varies depending on which method you use. I prefer the portable method of this effect which takes just a couple of seconds to set up. The gimmick is carried with you and can be readied during a short bathroom break. After it is readied, setup can be done right in front of the spectators. The other methods are good and definitely usable but the portable method is the most practical one in my opinion. The other methods are especially good if for example you are having some people come over to your house and you are going to have some alone time in advance to set it up. But if you want it to be at all impromptu...you will use the portable setup.
Performance: The performance of this trick is very easy. It will take very little practice to get down the performance aspect. The hardest part is going to be finding the correct spot to do this and resisting performing when the area may not be perfect. What I mean by this is that in some situations there may be some light and angle issues. Also not every place may be suitable to perform this, if you get the effect you will see what I mean but I can't say anymore without exposure.
Overall 7/10: This is a good effect. It is an innovative idea that I appreciate. I will use this but probably very sparingly. This is not the greatest effect that I have ever seen but it is a good effect. It may not be worth the money, I would have been much happier if the effect was priced more along the lines of X-Finger.
