SIGHT BY DEE CHRISTOPHER

Effect: The mentalist remarks on how he recently attended a horror film festival and picked up a cool little freebie there: a laminated card featuring a list of the Ten Greatest Horror Films of All Time. He invites a spectator to MERELY THINK of any title, one through ten. They do not name it, write it down, have it forced on them, or select it in any odd way, they merely look at the list and think freely of any title. Amazingly, the mentalist gradually reveals the thought-of title in a very creepy and shocking manner.

Review: You've probably never heard of Dee Christopher's latest offering, SIGHT, because it hasn't been released or even promoted yet. I'm honoured to have been one of the few people to have seen this beforehand, before it makes its first appearancre at Blackpool this year.

SIGHT is a packaged effect, coming complete with well-written, detailed instructions as well as the nice laminated card with the Horror titles on it. The card looks completely genuine and not like a magician's prop in any way, shape, or form. It's nicely printed and looks just like you picked it up from a Horror Convention.

This effect was particularly exciting to me, for two reasons: I love mentalism, and LOVE horror movies. Therefore, the combination of the two was PERFECT. People know I love horror movies so this effect is very plausible, and also just plain fun to perform. I know Dee loves horror too, which explains the format of this release.

SIGHT is a brilliant use for a brilliant mentalism principle. The way Dee has constructed this effect makes this principle, which usually requires lots of memorization and mental work, dead easy to do and 100% surefire. When I read the basic method, I was intrigued, and when I read what Dee has done with it to make it so easy and practical, I was overjoyed. He's really put a lot of thought into this one to make SIGHT as practical and workable as possible.

That said, despite the ease of the method in general, it will take an experienced mentalist to pull it off. Without proper presentation and performance, the main flaw of the general technique used in SIGHT is that, if performed poorly, it will look like you're doing exactly what you're doing. However, Dee covers a lot in the instructions, including how to appropriately justify the "suspicious bits". I've had a tiny bit of mentalism experience and, so far in performance, everything has gone very well.

Speaking of which, a bit about the overall impact of SIGHT. I've been using SIGHT for spectators for a few days now. It gets KILLER reactions, not so much a running and screaming sort of reaction but more or less just reactions of complete disbelief. Direct mindreading is EXTREMELY powerful in the right hands and this effect is as direct as it gets. I've only had one sharp spectator catch on to the workings but that was mainly my fault.

My favourite feature of SIGHT is that Dee has got the method hidden in plain sight. Anything you'd need to know is right there on the laminated card, cleverly hidden within written text. This greatly decreases the amount of memorization you would normally be required to do to pull off this effect. I love the way everything is put together, and frankly think it's very brilliant. Dee has got a SERIOUSLY powerful piece of mentalism on his hands, practical for virtually any audience and venue from walkaround to parlour. If you are into mentalism and horror movies, this is literally a must have. Even if you're not so much into horror movies, this is still a highly recommended purchase.

You'll be finding this after Blackpool, so as of now I have no link for purchase to provide, but for not I stand and give Dee Christopher's SIGHT a 9/10. I have been using this almost too much, it's perfect and can be carried anywhere, always ready to go. In short, I love this to bits.

Ah, Thanks for the review Mike!:)

Blackpool is the weekend after next, 19-22 feb.

It'll be available from myself on Marc Oberon's stall and on Magicbox's stall too!

I LOVE the effect, I present it as a remote viewing experiment, SEEING thru the spectator's eyes which allows for some very effective subtleties which I've covered in the included manuscript!

Cheers,

D.
