    D&D Sueing

Because you are new I am going to be lenient it is a news satire blog. It says so right down the bottom as well as in many of the posts. Some even asking for ideas or stories to be added.

    Liquid Metal - Any good?

However on PSI Series #4 he rushes over a lot of the effects especially the cutlery bends and plugs the other video. On PK Silverware he talks about why each bend works and more on the psychology and misdirection.

    Review of "Death Defying Acts"

Ed Norton did a pretty nice coins through silk in the illusionist.

    Liquid Metal - Any good?

As others have said it is a very good metal bending piece. It is not really my thing but the teaching and the effect are top notch.

    DO IT AGAIN! *leans closer*

I realised I forgot that scenario, however when I am preforming I usually get something like 'Hey can you show something to....'. I hate to sound arrogant but when I am performing it is very much my show, everyone knows this I love to let them in but at the end of the day they know that I am...

    Card Control (Control too top)

It really depends on what I want to portray as to the where the card is. If I want to have the card to be 'lost' and roughly found an overhand shuffle control works wonders. It also means you can move the card exactly where you want it quite easily. If I want to prove the card is going in the...

    DO IT AGAIN! *leans closer*

The best way to avoid this is to actually slow the whole procedure down. By taking more time the audience gets to appreciate what you are doing and they don't feel cheated. More often than not when the audience asks for you to repeat something it is because of one of two reasons. The first is...

    Sleight Of Hand Or Gimmick

I agree with visual artist on this one. I can grantee you that entertaining for 90 minutes is a whole different monster. Something that I don't see happening with only a deck of cards. I have heard of Paul Brook doing a 30 minute Out of this World effect and after reading a lot of his work I...

Small Show :: School Arts Festival

I would try to do something that has, even very loosely an underlying theme of education. That way you can keep the teachers happy as well. 15 minutes is perfect to do a memory demonstration, and that way you can play it off as a genuine skill rather than a simple magic trick.

June 2009 :: How deep should the rabbit hole go?

The real secret to making a trick believable is to take the impossible and make it the improbable. At the end of the day an audience makes the rational judgment that something underhanded was done to achieve the effect. Take Copperfields flying illusion, the rational person would believe it...

    7 Deadly Sins Project

Dee I don't know who told you Vanity was a pretty good trick. It is a very good one. A little too bizarre for liking but a very good piece of theater though.

    7 Deadly Sins Project

The show that I have been working on actually is based on the seven deadly sins. Each effect I do has an underlying theme of a different sin. Everything is played off slightly light hearted as nobody wants to openly admit to any of them.

    Jason England Workshop!

There is the other African American who sits in David's chair on the mentalism DVD's called Frank (he was in Psi Series, Mind Mysteries and Nothing). Just an observation

Quick Question About The Biddle Trick

If you go too quick they feel like you are trying to hide something. The move in the Biddle trick is something so minute that you can do it really slow and open as there is essentially nothing to see. Aaron Fisher said it in the Paper Engine about going slow to respect the audience so they can...

    Gimmick or No Gimmick?

'The Trick That Fooled Houdini' as stated used a double backed card ie a gaff card. And that is a type of gimmick. An effect that uses gimmicks and sleight of hand can really destroy an audience's idea.

    Impromptu Haunted Deck

Firstly to perform a haunted deck on stage especially any one of the impromptu handling's I have seen would be a huge mistake. I would use the one that Justin Miller does in the Cloak preview, the one that is in the wine glass. Any performer that is going to use thread in any aspect would...

Daniel Madison - The wheel change

I picked this up just for my own benefit, and maybe to show to a few friends. All I can say is, WOW was I wrong it can be used for a few other applications than just a clean colour change. I personally like it more than the db spin change. It is easier to do and ends a lot cleaner. You are...

    Impromptu Haunted Deck

About the gimmicked decks. Yes almost all the effects you can do with them can be done with sleight of hand and other magical. However, sometimes it is so much better to use these decks. If I am performing close up then trick decks are almost certainly out of the question as I very rarely...
