A Historical Question - or should that be "An"?

"The translation of De viribus quantitatis will be published next year to coincide with its 500th anniversary." Now that is exciting! Great find mate, thanks a lot for that :) I suppose if I'm ever in Bologna, I'll be sure to take a look at the original Italian..

Time to be Awesome Episode 6 – The Francis Menotti Interview

I particularly loved this episode; Francis' theatrical knowledge is something I associate very well with, and may just send him an email. Thanks again David.

    Copyright magic tricks

Nice article, and pretty accurate. Summary: Copyright in magic with regard to the law is a migraine.

A Historical Question - or should that be "An"?

Hey guys, I recently saw one of Jason England's posts where he outlines the history of the Strike Second Deal... This inspired me to ask two questions here: Firstly, does anyone have any suggestions on notable magic books which are still available (if such exist on any sort of regular basis) -...

Jason England | Strike Second Deal

WOW. Thanks for sharing that knowledge... I love reading about the history of a move, will definitely do some research.

    Tutorial forum?

There's not enough supply to warrant such a forum, in my opinion. I've seen very few tutorials as it is in terms of cardistry, and just about everything here is also somewhere else, usually before. In terms of magic tutorials - as well as obvious crediting, ownership, and other miscellaneous...

    "Can I see that again...?"

Eion, briefly: As you alluded to, there are several situations in which that could be said. If they indeed just say it out of amazement, and you've done a good job befriending the spectators, there should be no problem with you moving on - sometimes you can ignore the comment, sometimes you can...

    Any plans for product forums?

G makes a very good point - a lot of magicians are hesitant to contact the creators and artists. The many times I've contacted magicians such as Aaron Fisher, Lee Asher, Alain Nu, etc., they've all been more than helpful, and they certainly don't bite.

"A Deck of Cards" by Daniel Madison?

I see your point - evidently I wasn't in a particularly pro-active mood that day, and I apologise. I do try and help with every post I make.

    Check it out

I agree with ^ in that I don't think it flowed well. I think it was more due to the construction of the effect though. I don't think the moves were as well thought out it could've been - it wasn't clean in the sense that there were a lot of unnecessary motions to cover the sleights, so the...

    Street Magic (kind of)

LOL, a Sybil Variation... Well, normally I would go on a rant about how it's actually more detrimental than helpful to simply ask for "the best" tricks - because what suits me almost certainly doesn't suit you, and it simply leads you to perform the same old thing. Which is all true. I think...

    Book Showdown!

I will be completely forthcoming with you and say first off that I do not have the Jerry Andrus book. But, I will simply say, as a partial warning, that neither have the majority of members here, and many will have the inclination to recommend By Forces Unseen - the mentalist in me predicts an...

    I need tricks!

Hey man. We only commented on your years of doing magic because you brought it up, rather unconvincingly, I might add. I'm going to keep posting this in every single thread of this type I find. I posted this before, and it's always the same. Here's an idea. Look for them yourself, find the...

    Advice?

I agree with Sean's general comments about tension and so on - with the amount of effects you're trying to perfect in your sig - just make sure you don't move too fast. That said, there weren't any flashes that I could see. Something more needs to be said though about performing magic. Watching...

"A Deck of Cards" by Daniel Madison?

Wow. I'd love it if every message didn't creep with hostility. I'm sorry I can use the search feature properly...? Come on now. No need to be so nasty, or make an attack just because you couldn't find something. We're not five years old.

    I need tricks!

Agreed with s::VI. If you can't present d+M's Dangerous on the street, I don't know what you've been doing for the past 5-6 years. Sorry, harsh but true. You may have been in magic for that long but the very way you've asked questions and responded to answers in this thread suggests that you...

    "Australia's Best Magician"

I've been thinking of going to his show. It'll be interesting to see what his presentations are - being comedy + magic put together. From his YouTube videos, he looks to have perfectly solid sleight of hand and very good audience control; nothing revolutionary from a magician's point of view...
