"A Little Bit of Patter & Poker Blind" From By Forces Unseen

HaHa....Totally planning that! In fact I don't even mention my bottom deal yet because my bottom deal sucks and I don't want to draw attention to it. Thanks for all the insights. Cheers!

"A Little Bit of Patter & Poker Blind" From By Forces Unseen

Thanks for the response. All very good suggestions and I'll take them to heart. I agree 100% about the potential of "boring" the spectators. I really started this as a personal challenge to string together two of the more difficult routines in Earick's book. I like the skeleton of this routine...

    Card types 909 808 and tally-ho

Rider back refers to the back design and 808 is the stock and finish. This a poker 808 is also a bike rider back. I'm sure most of it is just marketing these days. Over the last 120 years or so the United States Playing Card Company has been buying up just about every other card company in North...

    Anaconda by Bone Ho

I'd have to concur with Theaterhead. Seems to be the type of flourish laymen expect. I perform a crazy cut with a fancy aerial and feel all proud of myself and then my audience says, "Wow! Can you also do that long springy thing?" I hang my head, say "no" and go home and practice that da@n...

    Anaconda by Bone Ho

I don't practice it as much as I should, a good one for me is about 2ft. I have noticed that I have better success with certain cards. Broken in tally-hos and most of the Bee brand cards seem to work better for me than say a Bike brand card.

    Asher 605's

Not much to add but they are great for knuckle busting, modern card sleights. The stuff made for stand up/walk around workers. They have some of the best single card glide actions I have come across therefore One handed pop-overs, venus trap, clip shifts, are all secure with 605s. Awsome at...

    Gambling books/Demonstrations

I'll second the Ortiz material and add By Forces Unseen. Some really cool Riffle Stracking demos in the back of it.

afraid of learning one handpopover by a f

That is a concern. I knew the one handed pop-over, then learned the clipshift, then I often had trouble going back to the pop-over. The moves are so similar, yet different enough that they can mess with your head if you are learning them at the same time. Not to fear. Like any difficult skill...

I don't know a proper thread title for this issue.

There is nothing wrong with exploring magic at the same time. If you see an effect you like, get it! sometimes you might learn a principle that can be applied to mentalism. You can always separate the two during performance. Many mentalists were well known, privately, as excellent card...

the best variation on subway and it is easier than dmb spread control chek it out

As long as what you are doing gets the job done. I use the Earick One handed convincing control for subway.

    Suffle work anyone?

Is it just me or is this stuff totally ADDICTIVE! Seems like all the effects I am learning could be done just as well with some card controls and bottom deals but doing them with shuffle work is somehow more satisfying.

    Solid Card books/DVDs

Books Aaron Fisher's Paper Engine....practical sleights. I use over 1/2 the moves taught in that book on a day to day basis. Lee Asher's Booklet series...tons of gems in there! Erdnase....of course! By Forces Unseen....rediculously complex(therefore FUN) moves and routines at the front...

NO NAME Technique - False cut or Control

Very bold...I like it! Similar in theme, though not in mechanics, to the Losing Control.

    SWE Shift Again.

I commend you for tackling such a elusive sleight and it is certainly better than what I can do, however, it is still a long way from looking really good. From a spectators perspective I could see lots of movement in the left hand. Could be just the angle of the camera? Possibly try steadying...

By Forces Unseen from Stephen Minch?

It is a lovely book! That said I'll second about every previous post. BFU is a book for advanced intermediats to expert level card guys looking for a challenge. I have been playing around with it for about four months now and I'm having a great time with it. That said, with all that practice, I...

21th Century Toppit by david penn

You can use that. 21st century Toppit is by far the most versitile toppit IMO. It also includes some great effects. Black 8 has become one of my reputation makers. Bear in mind that the type of jacket you use with it will effect the performance. Not due to the toppit but due to how a jacket...

    Diagonal Palm Shift-Performance

Yeah there is some fishy movement with your left hand. One way to cover it is to square the long sides of the deck with the left hand and then immediatly square the short sides of the deck with the right hand. The actual steal is made in a kind of circular motion but it should look like you are...
