I have yet to have an opportunity to try the Split spades so I can't speak to the quality issue...but where do you find them cheaper than S&Ms? Most places I have found sell split spades for about $7.00 and S&Ms for $6.00...when available. BTW the v.4 made me angry too before they broke in!:)...

The 1001's are the smooth finish Aladdin's. They are made for the Singapore market, which is why they are readily available there. They are a great card! I havn't heard that they have been discontinued but it is possible. A lot of brands got nixed when USPCC reorganized. I have not used the 1002...

I find that decks clump for various reasons. If it's dirt...wash the deck(provided your deck is washable). If it is just humidity I just give them a whack on the table and a few tight dribbles and they usually break free. Also, as someone else had mentioned, a few days rest sometimes works...
