Just an F.Y.I. I am aware that there is many threads regarding Facebook and such, I just wanted to throw this out to all of you... :)

Since a magician here on the forums has been removing and or blocking friends from his Facebook, I just wanted all of the regular magician kiddos, much like myself... I want you to know that you are more than welcome on my personal Facebook page... I will be setting up a Myspace soon... and I am in the early stages of constructing a Twitter tracker as well...

I would love and be more than happy to see what you are all up to in the magic community... my Facebook can be found here: facebook.com/ashleyerinhall and no I won't be blocking or deleting friends, thats you guys... hope to see you as a friend on my page! :)

Way to call somebody out for deleting you, because it's truly all his fault and he did it just to be an ass. Get over it, it's just the internet...

Here is mine...

I hope to see you there as a friend also...

The first post of this topic is simply dreadful.

Fact: Facebook is a social network meant to connect people who know each-other in real life. If you can't get that, stay away from it.
Seeking attention on social networks is simply wasting precious time. Get some dignity and become more rational if you don't want to spend every evening of your life whining about people not caring for you online.

That's my advice, you're absolutely free to consider or ignore it.

please... Grow up.

Just to play devil's advocate a moment, surely social networking sites perform very little function if you're only ever "networking" with people you already know. In my business, I make an overwhelming majority of my contacts through Facebook, and, even though I do go on to meet most of those contacts in real life, it's entirely possible for me to conduct a long-standing business relationship via social networking media. Making blanket statements about the purpose of any technology seems to display a closed-minded attitude towards innovation. Yes, the principle of the internet was devised with purely military applications in mind, but forward thinking made it so much more.

As an entertainer of any sort, (magician, comedian, musician, juggler, whatever), who you know is absolutely key. You need to connect with potential clients, TV producers, journalists, other entertainers, all sorts of people. To limit yourself to only ever connecting with people you've actually met in real life means you're giving yourself a massive handicap.

This is the second thread that this person has made this week about someone deleted her as a facebook friend. This thread should be closed, just like the first one was.

Think again, if you will.

Nice essay, but all of the above do not apply in this particular case. Looking for bits of affection from people we see on stage/TV is not innovation. Pursuing business interests is. Well done for finding social networking a good way of pushing up your business.

Wrong. Internet was made for porn and for watching cat videos. :)

P.S: Why the hell am I still posting here. My FailVille cows and pigs are getting horny. *Disconnects*

this is just someone acting a little vendictive and a lot like a five year old throwing a tantrum because they didn't det their way. She's butt hurt because a little hero worship back fired on her. There's being a little hurt and getting over yourself, and then there is this. This is uncalled for and NOT professional.

yeah teedee, I would normally agree with you but the person she's ranting about is Chriss Kenner. The Social networking game gets played by a different set of rules when yourlre an established celebrity. I highly doubt that anything he does on facebook is going to be the catalyst in getting him a gig. Any of us no names sure your dead on, but not him.

Fair enough Draven and Steve. I was hoping to expand the discussion out into a more general one about the potential of social networking for us as magicians and businesspeople, but I take your point in this specific case!

Just wanted to let you all know, to clarify my first post on this thread... it was in no way shape or form meant or intended to be disrespectful. I was just stating that, I wouldn't block or delete any of you from my Facebook ect... that is if any if you cool magic cats would still like to drop me a friend request on my social forum mentioned.,, cause I think your all pretty awesome... really I do. If you don't want to friend me, hey thats alright too... I was just hoping to possibly share in the magical interaction from kiddos, much like myself.... thats all. :)

Thanks to everyone here even though the posts thus far maybe haven't been good in response to what I wrote... thats really ok too... I like and appreciate your honest feedback... hey sometimes you have to take the negative with the good... and thats ok by me... ;-)

Creating a thread ONLY to tell everyone that you will not delete anyone from your own facebook, is such a random thing to say. It is obvious why you made this thread; you are still very, very upset for some reason. I don't blame the person who deleted you from his Facebook, you seem kind of obsessed. Just let it go. When someone says that they are deleting facebook friends ONLY because of safety and that their family comes first, why would you go making more immature threads like this???
