I'm looking for the type of effect where some people can lift a small object while others can't. I would like it to have some "suggestion" in the method. Also, tops for money is $40. Thanks in advance!

Thats the most simplest thing to do if you know the basics of suggestion...
Check out the basics and i belive derren does the trick too in one of his tv series(you can watch it on youtube) try to find the things there and learn the basics too...

Jermay's got some work on that effect, have a look thru some of his ebooks - Three cheers is one with an effect called strength. Being 'TheCardMagician' it'd probably suit.

It's a bit out of your price guide, but it's Jermay's real work...Not the penguin magic d/loads...

Jermay's strength is pure beauty. I even used it as induction for hypnosis where the person legitimately could not lift the playing card off a shot glass.

There is a deck of cards called the moby deck for about 40bux and its 1.5 pounds so the spectator really does not expect it!
