I think you should pick like 5-8 of those tricks and only do those. I think that's way to many.

I think the point of having a list called your best should have just a handful of the tricks that you use the most. I think that's more than all the tricks I actually use.
Top 5
Double lift reveal
Stigmata
Control

Invisible Deal

Those are the effects I use almost daily if not daily once - twice a week. I try to practice each effect I know once a day. So I dont think it is too many effects If I use them you know what I mean.

I don't see his list is too many, being an amateur.

The reason some magicians settle for few effects because they found out by performing that they do certain tricks, so they settle on these, this come from extensive experience ( 10+ years ).

Mike Skinner had a HUGE repertoire, he performed em all perfectly. Marlo performed all his stuff too, and he's an amateur but performs alot.

The reason amateurs tend to learn alot of tricks is because they usually perform for the same audinece unless they have performing opportunities, which are no way near a pro who constantly performs for a newer audience, hence even a large repetoir is not needed.

I don't think Darwin Ortiz didn't perform all HIS tricks in his 3 books, not to mention other magician's effects.

Cheers,

SIgh. The lists for you guys is huge. I bet half of those aren't performed as well as they should be.

For me, I stand alongside:

Ramjollock by Benjamin Earl

-Thought of Card to pocket by Benjamin Earl;

-Election by Eric Ross;

-Kiss Transpo by Wayne Houchin I believe;

-Cheating at GIN. not really an effect, but a practise of card manipulation nonetheless (as long as you're not caught, which will then lead to a practise of picking up your teeth from the floor);

-and last but not least, my own LIT type effect. Very simple.

Here's the stuff I perform everyday,

Ambitious Card
2 Card Monte
Four Play
Criterion
Role Play
Lapse
Galaxy
Hoffzy Osbourne
Triumph

Here's what I perform from time to time.

Deja Vu
Rum Jungle
Bad Influence
Biddle Trick
Reset

I used to have more but I had to drop them as i've found this is limit if I want to be able to perform them all perfectly, any more and some of them start to get a bit sloppy.
