    The bible

The DVD set is pretty dry too. Modern Coin Magic was written to be a textbook on coin magic; a place to learn from. Not to entertain the reader. You may have to struggle through it, but it's worth it, because of the WEALTH of knowledge contained in the pages. Have fun with it! If you...

Cylinder and Coins- and where the good stuff is!

Mickey Hades lives in Calgary. Don't know who Mickey is? Google him. He's been in magic FOREVER, as an inventor, performer, and collector. Look up his table; it's brilliant. He lives three or four blocks from the magic shop where I work. And Brent, the owner of the shop, just bought...

    The bible

Aaron Shields just said it best. Read the post above mine! I also found this to be worthwhile and interesting. It's a DVD set, not a book... and don't think I'm one of those kids who don't read! :P I love books, but this DVD set is one of the most comprehensive collections of coin sleights...

Do you agree? Question about the Muscle Pass

I've really given this a lot of thought. I perform in the magic shop I work at every day, so I have a great test group of laypeople and magicians that I can try new ideas on. I've noticed a peculiar thing regarding the muscle pass. I have done "the coin that falls up" billions of times...

    Standard Magic and simple stuff

Curtis, it's great to see you around. We missed you at the E forums. I second his post, only I'd like to add that coin gaffs might need to be stocked as well. :) Scott.

    Don't you all...

I'm from Calgary, AB, Canada. "Kardillusions" on E and the Magic Cafe. Also on 2deemagic's forums. Spent a few months on penguin and the magic woods. I guess I'm just all over the place. ...and now I'm here. Scott.

Why is Borrowing an Object so VITAL?

First of all, borrowing a coin isn't making it "more personal". People spend that change in a heartbeat without missing specific coins. It's just pocket change- no one cares. I'd rather do magic with SPECIAL COINS that are obscure and weird, than do magic with borrowed change that has no...

    Mmm... Coin Bite

You can bite the double-fold... ...twice. ;) "I can taste the mint" - Get it? MINT! :) Also, check out David Roth's FOLDING COINS THROUGH TABLE routine. I know it's in his Stars of Magic tapes, from way back when. Scott.

    Soft Coins

Try coin dealers (the collectors shops). Ask for what they call "slicks". You can get some pretty good coins for cheap from there. Also, you can buy batches of them off e-bay, for a decent price. Splurging for a shell set can get expensive, especially if all you want are soft coins...

    About The Raven

Well, I don't know what to say about it cutting your finger... but the length of the fishing line is completely under your control. Simply adjust it by (a) tying knots or, what I'd recommend: (b) get a new line and re-do it, smaller. You may be able to think up a different way to get the...

Scotch and Soda VS. Dime and Penny

Do you guys think that the Scotch and Soda is the better set because the vanish of the CENTAVO appears harder, due to its larger size than the dime? Also, can you guys think of an instance where the dime and penny is the BETTER choice? Maybe for a killer ending. (It would be hard to make a...

Scotch and Soda VS. Dime and Penny

Does the size of the coins change the "effect"? What makes one superior? Which do you guys use, and why? Is one more suitable for a certain type of routine than the other? Interested to hear your views. Scott.

    Digital Dissolve

Just watched the preview... as a coin guy, I'm stoked. This reminds me of something I did once with my friend sam... of course, he was a slippery devil... :) Scott.

What are you about? Why are you here?

Hey My name is Scott. And I'm a coin magician. I live in Calgary, Alberta (in Canada), and I work at the only magic shop in Calgary (and the biggest retail magic shop in western Canada)- the Vanishing Rabbit Magic Shop. I do coin tricks. It's what I do. My biggest influences are by...

    About The Raven

Only if you're doing it on their hand... you can use the raven to vanish coins off of your hand, too. Or the table. Or the ground. Scott.

    Nun None

While Nun None is not really a coin trick (it can be done with anything), it's most commonly performed with two coins. What I'm looking for are interesting patter ideas that lead up to the kicker ending of the nun in the hand. Anyone brave enough to share an interesting concept or new...

Why is Borrowing an Object so VITAL?

When it comes to borrowing coins, though, I don't think it matters, so long as you allow the spectator to examine the coin you'll be using. Sometimes, as magicians we OVER-PROVE by having everything borrowed and signed. It's okay to use our own stuff! Just pass around what you can...

    Question regarding Scotch and Soda

What is the weirdest place you guys have ever made that centavo appear after the vanish? Just curious, to see who thinks outside the box here. I like making it appear on the spectators shoulder (thanks, Apollo!), in their pocket, dropping it from my head, and having it in my shoe. Where...

    About The Raven

Try talking over the noise as the coin vanishes. Or, actually slap your hand into the coin to make it vanish. Your choice, Mike. Scott. (from the Vanishing Rabbit) PS: That silk thing looks killer!
