    Where's the entertainment?

For those who keep comparing it skateboarding, I hate sports (unless you count Parkour, which I had a lot of fun doing in college and would love to start doing again). You'll have to try to appeal to me in a different way. Also, I would think with extreme sports, you have the adrenaline factor...

    That's not an answer.

    Where's the entertainment?

Cardistry, as much as I hate to state the obvious, is a very hot issue right now. Whether you call it as such, or label it flourishing or XCM, the manipulation of cards is growing in popularity among a new generation of performers and stories are going around of audiences who are learning about...

    Good Russian Roulette (Knives/Cups)

Personally, I find most Russian roullette routines to be in extremely bad taste. And if you like the idea of using a spectator's hand as opposed to your own, you should be caned. That said, the safest possible method I have yet encountered was Andrew Mayne's Stab'd from the Maynia DVD. If...

    Heckler Help

The probem here is that most magicians are not Gazzo. Insult comedy isn't advisable unless you have a natural knack for it, and even then you have to think quickly and know when to cut the jokes and get back to your act. The problem with Brian Tudor's approach is that he's a drunken...

    Heckler Help

There is no shame in a tactical retreat. Think about this. Confounding a heckler generally doesn't work because he'll just invent a method. And if you do stump him, it will just make him hate you and try even harder to screw with you. Just walk away. Your pride isn't worth it.

Daniel Garcia: His view on his latest E release.

Well, Danny Garcia makes a public statement about his being pissed off. Brad Christian responds in kind with a public apology and addressing the issues Danny brought up. Danny complains about talking about things in public... in public. I'm not going to think about this any further than that...

    Restaurant Magic?

Like I said, if you don't think you're ready there's not much I can do for you. Despite my over-inflated ego, I still know better than to think anything that I have to say could be a possible substitute for real-world experience.

    Restaurant Magic?

If you don't think you're ready for it, just say as much. Restaurant work is very challenging. If it's something you'd like to pursue in the future, find a copy of Live at the Jailhouse. It's pricy, but worth it.

    Control or Distortion?

Control takes a very specific type of persona to play it right. Ask yourself: Could you credibly pull off dying?

    Interesting Article by R Shane

You're still making the effort to further discussion. That's the part that counts. What Shane is getting at is accountability. Caveat emptor. Magic is something that is usually bought sight unseen, though most magicians seem loathe to admit it. They would rather fault the distributor, the...

A guy at the local magic shop demoed it for me last week. Let me put it this way: It hurt to watch. The blisters look that real.

I'm not sure why people make a dig deal out of the 3-card limit. If you perform in a strolling setting, you won't be seeing these people again for god knows how long. Unless you're in the habit of doing the same trick about 18 times to the same group in the same evening, I can't see repetition...

    Products for my Birthday?

I can't believe I totally forgot about The Jinx. It's got everything. Cards, coins, paper money, mentalism, rope... and it also has a lot of Theo Anneman's essays.

In that case I would recommend Card College, Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic, or Maximum Entertainment.

The world's greatest card trick revealed!

For some reason the video refused to load for me. However, I got the gist of it from the comments. Now I'm fully expecting a bunch of people to come into this thread, not watch the video, not read past the first post, take you seriously, and preach their bloody heads off about exposure. Let's...
