There would be no point to counting down a deck in 10 seconds as no dealer will every deal out even close to as fast as that. You need to be able to count down twice as fast as the dealers deal.

Consider a dealer who deals to cards each to a 7 player table in 15 seconds (which is quite fast). That makes 8x2=16 cards. 16 cards in 15 seconds. So let's say the average dealer deals about one card per second. You would need to count at least 2 cards per second to make sure you have little to no errors.

An advantage is that the cards are left on the table so you can wait after the dealers has dealt 2 cards to each player and then count. You can look for combos that cancel out, etc.

Basically you'll need to be able to count a deck down in 25-35 seconds without error.

As for other systems, you can check out a list at THIS site...

Cheers,
Shanku

I'm intrigued. I know the Hi-Lo (Plus-Minus) system, but I don't gamble, so I really haven't used it.

What I'd like to know is if any sort of card counting method is used in any magic effects? Anyone know of any?

ok. thanks. is it accurate?

There's no completely "accurate" card counting system. The cards won't come in a specific order if you're counting...

I prefer the K-O system because there's a very low chance of making errors. There is no need for true count conversion so that would save you time and effort. Just read up on the various systems and decide which one you like best...

how do they know how to catch you???? that doesnt make sense. isnt most of it just pure thoughts and strategy???

Because most cheats get greedy. A well done card cheat is impossible to detect, but when security notices a pattern emerging, you're as good as busted.

If you really want ot learn more about card cheats, look up Sal Piacente. I attended one of his lectures last night and the man is perhaps the most skilled card cheat you will ever meet. He doesn't even count cards anymore because he knows so many different systems including one for memorizing an entire deck.

You haven't seen Sal work. When you see what he's capable of, you'll quickly change your mind about memorization mentalism.

Keep in mind, that I have never utttered a sentence like the previous in my entire life prior.

Sal Piacente is a gambling consultant who helps casinos train their staff in catching cheats. You won't ever get a false shuffle past this guy. Other notable consultants include Darwin Ortiz and Steve Forte.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. He memorized the location of all 52 cards in less than 6 seconds and was able to successfully name them all.

After memorizing the spread, he was then able to shuffle and control the cards to deal himself a royal flush. Does that impress you more?
