Did you catch the part in my post where I said the customer is definitely not always right?

they're not, but I don't see how I'm wrong in this case. I gave them the option to either refund it or cover shipping and they've still done neither.

also, I think you'd find it pretty hard to say they were right. They screwed up here, not me.

In a perspective where the seller invites a consumer to treat themselves to a product, they are definitely wrong in this instance.

Selling a product is an invitation to treat, The customer is not happy with the product. The seller's responsibility to fix it. Because the **** the consumer bought isnt what he said it was. Its not the case that its illegal for sellers to sell a product and have consumers dislike it, they dont have to refund it- but for the sake of good advertisement and good feedback, they do. The company's reputation is at stake, and word of mouth advertisement is both a friend and foe.

Good thing i listened to my business lessons.

No PaulyD, you're definitely not wrong. I was just responding to another persons post that "the customer is always right". Which is a sentiment I'm vehemently opposed to.

I must say, I'm pretty disappointed.

I'm not sure if many of you know, but there's been some rather irritating things going on with the Anaconda DVD sale.

For starters, people have been talking about the mass hype marketing, It bugged me a bit, but I let it pass. It looked cool.

So as we were all herded onto their little ordering site (note that I said order, and not pre-order), we all entered our details to order the product, and right after we did, were were finally greeted with a page that said, "Shipping in september..." Excuse me? So you just spent all this time marketing the hell out of a product you weren't going to ship right away? I was irritated, but again, I gave it a pass, hoping this would be the last hurdle I'd have to deal with. It's ordered, no big deal....until...

A few days later, I get an e-mail from huron stating there was a glitch in the payment system which didn't charge the first few customers shipping and demanded I pay another $10 for shipping. Now I was extremely irritated. So first you let me commit to paying one price, and now you're trying to add on shipping? It's not about the $10. Not even close. It's about the fact that they screwed up and the customer shouldn't have to pay for it. Had that $10 already been in the price, I would have gladly paid it.

Keep in mind, I've worked for various companies, I've sold tons of things myself, and I've dealt with a ton of companies (T11 being one of them who was EXTREMELY COURTEOUS, thanks) and the general Modus Operandi is that whomever is at fault pays for the mistake. Clearly they should have tested the site before they made it live, but they didn't.

So I e-mailed back explaining that while I understand their situation, that i was already irritated by the first two issues and that since this is their fault that it would be courteous for them to cover it. After some exchanges, all diplomatic, Huron disagreed.

Huron also claimed that the shipping date was intentional to better provide better "customer service" (and I use that loosely) and to "avoid piracy". I'm not even going to get into how it does nothing to curb piracy, but you'd figure that they'd at least hold true to their "customer service" promise. Nope....

So Huron asks if I want a refund, and I say "Your call - Refund it or cover the shipping."

No response for a week. No refund.

I get a broadcast e-mail that the DVDs are sold out. Which had a message about their upcoming reprint after they INITIALLY SAID they were only doing a limited release of the DVD. Oh really? Thanks for the info. [sarcasm] Good to know you have integrity [/sarcasm]

So I e-mail Huron and he said he refunded it. I check Paypal, still no refund. Go to Paypal's refund request, request the refund. E-mailed huron, he said he'd look into it. Still nothing.

Just thought everyone should know. I tried to be diplomatic about the whole thing, but I think right there they've shown what kind of integrity they have. Personally, I won't be dealing with them ever again, and thought you all should know how they treat their customers - Deception and outright lies.

Dang.. Good thing I didn't go order that. Sorry that had to happen to you, that's terrible that they won't take their mistakes like a man and spare the $10, even to just to make you happy so they don't have to deal with anyone you know?

Weird.

Anyways, I won't be getting anything from them, over-hyped and apparently bad service. Rather stick with a place that I already know is reliable and has amazing service- thanks theory11!

I'm not sure how you can say something is over-hyped when you haven't even had your hands on the product.

I'm just trying to be level-headed about this.

It's September 1st and I still haven't received my link. I hope I don't get it at 11:59pm.

Ok guys!! Just received email from the virts...

They screwed up again...on processing the digital downloads during the customization process. We're supposed to reenter all of our information and during another check-out process to receive the digital downloads that you could have ordred during the customization process...

Nothing yet on the Eye Cut download purchased before the customization process.

Needless to say, I'm quite annoyed.

wow...way for them to keep dropping the ball. this is getting ridiculous...yet another part of their workflow that they either didn't test, or didn't plan properly for....smh....

I think this is a lesson for any budding entrepreneurs on how NOT to run a business....

Not gonna lie. I agree.

I respect the Virts, and I respect Bone Ho, but it seems they are being pretty unprofessional. I think it's stupid for anybody to actually stick up for their mistakes. The way they marketed the DVD I think was was pretty unprofessional too. They make up statistics by saying there are an estimated 78,000 cardists in the world. (I think they said 78,000. Could be wrong. Too lazy to check.) Where did this statistic come from?

Also, I saw through the bs in the beginning when they said it was a limited release. If they spent ANYWHERE NEAR the amount of money they say they did on just the production of this DVD, a limited release for the DVD would be stupid. They'd lose money. I was correct when I saw that there was going to be a 2nd release. Are they just going to keep having release windows like this?

On top of that, they screwed up on their shipping. Asking people to pay $10 after paying the money at the start is VERY unprofessional. Then to not refund someone's money after all that is also unprofessional. Now they want everyone's personal info again... Jeez. I'm glad I stayed away from this. I'll get the Anaconda and Eye Cut someday when they fix their mess. How do I get it if they are only doing a limited release? Eh, I'll order it on their 5th limited release run.

I just got a email saying that they couldn't process the damn digital downloads and we need to re-key in our credit card information. Why did they wait until now to let us know about this?

I wanted the soundtrack but now I'm not going to bother.

This whole thing is a mess. One mistake after another.
What bothered me was the download you could buy. That page was purposely misleading. I emailed Huron about it, and he just didn't discuss that point. No where on the page did it say you had to wait two weeks to download anything. They said "Can't Wait? Get the download!". Any normal minded person would think "Hey, that probably means I can download right away." The least they could have done was just say on the page that you had to wait until the 1st. Oh wait, that would probably hurt the sales so they'll just keep it misleading.

And with not proccessing the downloads, do they not know how credit cards work? OF COURSE YOU NEED THE CVV2.
They really weren't ready for this.

Those of us who purchased items during the customization process like the anaconda download or the sound track received an email stating that we needed to reenter our credit card info because Huron forgot about the CVV2 number. I haven't received anything regarding my eye cut download. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, when PaulyD initially made his claim about their poor customer service, but now I'm really doubting their customer service. I haven't seen any responses at wld2009.com......

They haven't posted anything on the site.
And it says it could be 24 hours until we get our download link. Just great.

I'm pretty glad I decided to skip this release. I wouldn't have been happy having to jump through all those hoops, nor the inability to receive a refund in a timely manner (or at all, as the case may be).

This definitely hurts their future sales, too. The whole thing, from the overhyping, to the lies (limited release), to the half-truths ("instant" download), to the poor customer service. This is one potential buyer who no longer will be even considering their future releases. Sad, because before all of this happened, I had heard nothing but good things about the Virts. I suppose that's what they get for biting off more than they could apparently chew.
